Ugh. I can't wait to talk to a lawyer.

I'm trying to pick up the pieces of my life and my ex is doing his best to stop me.

My parents have offered to support Jake and I for a few years so I could be a full time student and get a degree, yet ex refuses to let me move three hours away, out of province.

We were hoping to settle custody and everything through a mediator, but if we can't agree, it's not going to happen.

Oh, and he doesn't want to pay much child support.

    You need to see a lawyer and trust me, in the long term you will be better off going to court.

    If you can prove how much better your life will be by moving I dont see how a judge cannot grant you the relocation but the burden of proof is on you.

    One of the biggest things that they see its the support network you will have and it seems that you will have that.

    Thanks! I think I can prove the it'll be better for Jake and for me. We would of gone to court either way. The mediator just helps you come to an agreement, the judge has to agree to it as well.

    But I have a lot of family supporting me, I just wish it was done already.

    I ditto Tif. In the long run, it's best to get an attorney. And just because he doesn't "want" to pay more child support, doesn't mean it will happen. Let him pay what the court orders. What a douche-tastic thing for him to say!

    I know. My eyes rolled out of my sockets. He thinks cause he doesn't make much, he won't have to pay much. The calculator says otherwise.
