Opinnions needed about doctors office

Hi everyone-

I just had my second visit to my CNM office (I am 11 weeks).  I like her a lot but I have some concerns.  Call me a germ-a-phobe but the past two times I have been there has been no soap in the bathroom. Not even a dispenser! Each time I told the tech at the desk that there was no soap and her responce was "that is ok". Hello washing your hands is the number one to prevent the spread of germs. I told my midwife and she was pretty horrified and vowed to have this changed but it makes me think if they don't even care to have soap in the bathroom then what else isn't clean there.  Also they are not very big on modesty. My midwife had to leave the room to get some additional equipment and left me half naked on the table (the lower half) and forgot to close the door all the way. Call me old fashion but I am not into being exposed to the whole world. I do like my midwife she seems very nice and smart.  Does this kinda thing happen to everyone or should I be alarmed?

Re: Opinnions needed about doctors office

  • To be completely honest I'd be looking for another provider.  The no soap and "that is okay" (not once, but twice) is just gross and leaving you there and not closing the door all the way or having a curtain pulled is just odd and not at all normal.

  • I'd want a new doctor too.  That's gross!  If they're not following those simple precautions, what else aren't they following?

  • It's time to look for a new doctor. These things are not OK. I would express your concerns with the office manager, and run as fast as you can to a new doctor.

  • I agree with PP, that is absolutely disgusting, find a new practice.

  • Yeah, those things would be dealbreakers for me as well.  No soap is gross and it's totally unprofessional to leave you on display!

  • Um, seriously?  No, that's not normal.  As your midwife said, if they aren't into soap, what else aren't they cleaning?  I would not continue to go there.

  • I managed a family medicine clinic- and I would have absolutely not allowed those things to happen in my facility. Neither are normal and neither should be tolerated.
  • I could understand if they just ran out of soap but no dispensor and "That's ok" does not cut it.  I would be pissed if my dr left me exposed to the whole world like that, if mine has to step out he pulls the sheet down and barely cracks the door and slips out and makes sure to shut it.  I would have issues with all of it.  I would be concerned with what else is not being done to prevent the spread of germs and such.
  • I probably wouldn't go back to that office again. Also, I have never been able to figure out why those darn beds have you facing the door. what if someone walked in?
