Buckle into carseat when using stroller?

Do you buckle your LO in his/her carseat when you are just using the stroller and NOT going in the car? I always did (not as tightly buckled) but I see so many people out on walks that do not have them buckled in. Just wondering what other people do. I'm sure DS would love it if I didn't buckle him in because he always cries when I tighten the straps.

  • I do but it's still kind of loose.  Definitely not car tight.

  • I do.  I buckle him in whenever I have to move him in the carseat.  If he's just sitting on the floor beside me I won't bother.  DS doesn't like being buckled, but he likes going for walks, so he doesn't mind as long as he's moving!
  • I do sometimes, I don't sometimes.  Depends where I am really.

  • I do; otherwise I have this horrific image of me tripping when we're walking down a hill and losing my grip on the stroller so that it rolls away from me and tips over.
  • Absolutely buckled in. However, I tighten it till it touches him, but I don't yank it tight like I do for the car.  this way it's not so uncomfortable for him but he's pretty secure.  I have a fear of a cart/stroller tipping over etc.
  • Yeah, she's always buckled in.  It's just habit.

This happened to me with my son (1st child).  1st day out of the hospital I had to go to a doctor.  I got out of the taxi with the carseat in one hand and the stroller in the other.  I tripped on the curb, fell to the ground, and the carseat went rolling.  Can you imagine?  I was SCREAMING.  A random woman on the street grabbed the carseat and made sure my son was fine.  He didn't even wake up.  But thank goodness he was strapped tightly into the carseat.  Needless to say, he (and now my daughter) are always strapped in tightly.

  • Mine has 2 buckles, one across the chest and one crotch one. Sometimes I only buckle the top one. But that's when the carrier is already in the stroller, I never carry it that way.

  • Always! When DD was about 8 weeks old, we were attacked by a dog while pushing the stroller down a hill, no kidding! The dog was attacking my dogs, not the baby thank god.  Needless to say I lost my grip on the stroller and it rolled about 10 feet before bouncing off a car and tipping over.  SO SCARY! Fortunately DD was strapped in tight and didn't have a scratch on her.  Lesson learned.
