Before DS was PT, he was a pretty regular pooper, went once a day and it was "normal". Now that he's PT, he holds it. He doesn't get constipated, but he only goes every other day, if that. And alot of times it's runny, I'm assuming b/c he's held it and upset his stomach. I know for some kids every other day is normal, but for DS it's not. When he was a baby he got probiotics all the time because of his sensitive system, so I was thinking of starting that up again. But I was curious what others might be doing. I know some of you do fiber, but isn't that more for constipation?

DS is a terrible pooper and now on prescription Mirilax. Ever since summer hit he has had a terrible time. His pedi said we could buy over the counter Mirilax but prescribed it instead since it is cheaper that way. She also suggested apple juice and prunes in addition. She told us Mirilax is okay for a little one since it is primarily fiber and he shouldn't have any issues with long term use (if needed). Hopefully not!
I remember you posting when I was going through poop-trauma w/my own DS!! Has he regressed? I thought he was doing awesome? I am sorry.. I know how stressful poop-issues are!
We use a quarter cap of Miralax - regular otc. A toddler dose is half-cap, but I just do a quarter cap.. for no real reason... as Miralax is totally harmless/non habit forming. I'd go get some stat!
Of course we tried prunes (didn't love em) and apple juice and other things. But Miralax is great.
Ha Ha! Well, yes and no. He is doing awesome. He is pooping on the potty, but he's still holding it until he can't hold it anymore. So when it's time to go, it's time to go! And that can cause problems. Especially if he's held it so long his tummy gets upset. We had a little setback a couple of weeks ago when he was sick. So we're not really having issues, I just wish he'd go every day like I know he needs to. He'll tell me he needs to poop, but he'll hold off for hours or even a day before he actually goes, and that just can't be good. I'll have to try the Miralax, thanks!
