New to The Bump

C-section question

My daughter was born via c-section in April. She had many medical issues and was very sick so she passed away the day after she was born. My question is do any other moms have pain around their scar. My scar and the area around it ache alot especially the ends of the scar. Also how long will it take to get feeling back in that area, I'm still numb. Thanks

  • I don't have pain around my scar but it will be numb forever because they have to cut through the nerves that go to the lower abdomen. If you still have pain, I'd call your OB. Good luck, hope that helps!
  • I have not had a C-Section, but I have had major surgery, and was told by the surgeon and specialist that the numbness would stay, and any pain after a year would be permanent.

It has now been 4 yrs since the surgery, and I have found that the numbness faded in the first year, I still have some, but it is much less than I felt soon after surgery.

The pain is not necessarily permanent, and is often due to the way the muscle heals after the surgery, I have now been seeing a massage therapist who specializes is scar therapy, and she helped a lot of the pain, and some of the numbness. I would recommend seeing if you have one in your area.
