my friend told me I am an odd ball, but I seriously can't get into the home renovation shows. Half the time I think the stuff they do is over the top, etc. I guess I'm really odd since everyone seems to love them
I used to love them. But now, after having a kid, I don't have the money or time to do anything like they do so it's just depressing to watch. I'd rather not think about everything in my house/yard that I would like to change. haha.
Besides, if I have time for TV, it's usually watching a movie with the hubby after LO is in bed or catching up on the dvr. I have a few guilty pleasure shows that I listen to in the morning while bumping
I almost never watch them. I like it when Oprah does renovations on her show and Extreme Home Makeover is ok (becuase it's clear where the $$ is coming from and those people deserve them!), but not the HGTV ones. I find them pretty boring to watch too often. And some of the shows that do them on a budget look pretty crappy to me. I think it looks ok for the cameras, but if you were actually in the house it would be really cheap looking. And when it's done spending lots of money it does look over the top, I agree.

Eh, it's mindless tv in my book. Same as NJ Housewives and Jersey Shore. So I do tune in every so often and enjoy it. But I agree with you, most of the renovations are over the top. Doesn't mean I can't watch & dream though!
I was never into HGTV until a few weeks ago. I started looking for things to watch during late-night nursing sessions, and got hooked on House Hunters and Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami on E(I wasn't aware of who they even were until this baby came along, LOL). Some of my friends have talked about HGTV forever, and I was never interested. It's funny how quickly things can change. I actually have an episode of HH On Demand on right now while the girls nap. :-) Try it just once...you might get hooked!
On our way to 3 under 4!

I can take them or leave them, but my H is obsessed. He watches more of the instructional ones like Holmes on Homes, 10 Grand in your Hand, Renovation Realities etc. We just moved into a 100 y/o house and he wants to do a lot of work himself.
I have to say he has done some pretty awesome things to our house. He is going to install our new kitchen cabinets and flooring which is going to save us a lot of money. I trust him too, he wouldn't do it if he thought he would be in over his head
I like House Hunters and My House Is Worth What? (I think that's what it's called). But, I rarely watch them. Like maybe once every other month (or more) because I hardly watch any tv. I'd rather be on the internet or read a book.
I looove them. Our last house was 135 years old and this one is 110 years old so there are always projects to do.. and my husband is very "DIY" so he gets a lot of good info from them!
I love them!! I actually just finished watching Design Star on DVR from last night. Some of the shows are over the top or things I would not do in my own home but I have gotten some ideas I like.

Me too! I just watched Design Star on demand. I usually go between TLC, HGTV, Food Network & Bravo
I love when people are touring a home and ask "is this the bathroom?" Usually it's house hunters. No, genius, its the kitchen. What gave it away, the toilet? Or how they say they love the furniture. um, you usually don't get the furniture with the house so don't lool at it lol!
Re: Be honest- am I the only person who doesn't like HGTV & DIY shows?

I'm not fond of them. Plus that's all MIL watches when she's at our house (24/7, I kid you not) so it's lost any allure it used to have.
And don't get me started on the home buying shows (House Hunters, Property Virgins, etc.). I'm usually yelling at the TV by the end.
