I have my next appt. on the 31st of this month. I called them just now to see if they'd be doing an anatomy ultrasound, and they said no, they wouldn't. They told me I'd have to talk to my doctor at my next appointment, and try to get in to get one done in the following weeks. She said they only do ultrasounds on Wednesdays, which is a total lie b/c I had several done there not on Wednesdays.
So anyway, I'll be 20 weeks at my next appointment, and I think there's only so much of a window when they can find out the sex, because otherwise it gets too crowded all up in there. So, I don't want to get to 20 weeks and then have to wait another 3-4 weeks to get in.
Don't get me wrong, I love my doc and that office, they can just be flaky sometimes. They've been great so far. Well, I take that back. My doc is great. The office staff is sometimes flaky. So anyway, I am just wanting to go to one of those independent ultrasound places. I live out in Danville, and work on the NW side of Indy. So anywhere on the west/northwest side is ideal, although I'd probably go most anywhere in the city to someone decent.
Thanks!
Re: Can you recommend an independent u/s place?
I went to Castleton Ultrasound to get a second opinion on gender. I needed to make sure she was indeed a girl!
https://www.castletonultrasound.com/index.htmlThat's the big ultrasound, which it sounds like you'll be getting. They just don't want to be the bearer of bad news if they were to see something I think.
I think they want to wait until after the big one where they look at all the organs and everything. But, maybe the office misunderstood you. At my big u/s, they told me the gender. Maybe they thought you were talking about just a gender scan? If they see it's a boy, then I'm sure they'd tell you.
We went to castleton ultrasound for a 3D ultrasound and had a good experience. Most places won't do an elective ultrasound until you've had an ultrasound with your doctor. I had to bring pics from the u/s to prove that I had one.
The independent places don't do measurements or check for abnormalities/growth. They're only for fun and for determining the gender.
I wouldn't worry about the baby being too squished up to determine the gender at your dr's office. The limited space doesn't happen until well into the 3rd trimester. Some babies don't "cooperate" but that's not usually due to limited space. My 3D u/s was at 30 wks and we easily saw the gender in 2D.
Have fun!!
