I like Henry but it seems like it's in the "popular name right now" category. I have two friends with boys named Henry. So I guess it depends on how much of a big deal that is for you--that your DS might be one of several Henry's in a classroom.
I voted for Henry George because having been a teacher for 15 years I never had a Henry and I like that it's different from trendy/popular names. I also like using George for your father.

I voted for Adam Joshua because I love the name Adam. I like the sound of Joshua Adam better I wouldn't give a kid a first name they aren't going to go by. We did this with DS because it was a family tradition (DS is Frederick VIII but goes by his middle name). It's already super confusing and he's not even in school yet. I am constantly correcting people and I think it's going to be worse when he's older. My dad is a Jr. and went by his middle name until he was in middle school. He said he got tired of correcting 7 teachers so he decided to go by his first name. He warned me about calling a child by their middle name/having two people living in the same house with the same name but we didn't listen!

I like Henry George. Presumably a boy would have your husband's last name, so I think honoring your father would be awesome. (disclosure: sprout is named after his 2 great-grandpas so I'm biased!)
I agree that Henry is rather popular in this area though. but it's a great name! And I also agree with pp not doing "call him by the middle name" thing.
I like all the names. From a person who has a grandfather, uncle and cousin with the same first names but different middle names so know senior, junior, numbers, etc... it has been very confusing for them with doctors and banks and stuff because people don't always read well :-) Even though they all go by different names it has caused some stress.

Re: the middle name as the name you go by - my one brother is John Scott and has always gone by Scott, so in my statistically significant survey of exactly one person, he said he doesn't remember it being too confusing for people when he was growing up. So it's good to hear others' feedback on that.
As far as Henry being popular lately, we're not too worried. Joshua is and has been one of the most popular names year after year (according to this website: https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/index.html - for many years it was solid in the top three most popular) and DH, who has been one of several Josh's in his class, has decided he's no worse for wear. I'm sort of of the mind that I don't really care what's popular, I want a name I like and don't mind saying out loud countless times over the course of my life.
I really like Adam lately for some reason.
Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.
I am one who wants you to have a first name that you go by, I think its the teacher in me and writing everything wrong on the nametag, folders, desks, etc..that being said DS is Joshua so I obviously like it. DH is Jonathan Zachary and has been Zach his whole life which was always weird to me...
anyways FWIW, I voted Henry Joshua...I love the name henry:-)

I don't think going by the middle name is confusing but it has been complicated for my family members because George R., George B and George S. are three different people (who happen to live close to each other) and the banks have mixed up accounts and the pharmacy medicines because of the same first name last name and since they are not jrs, III, etc... Basically people can't read but it has stilled caused some issues :-)

As someone who has spent a lifetime going by a name that isn't directly a nickname for my given name (parents named me one L name that is a family name but then when I was a month old started calling me another L name), I vote for naming your child the first name that you intend to call them, or at least a nickname that makes sense from the given name. I like Adam a lot and voted for Adam Joshua.

The confusion is more from having 2 people in the same house with the same first name.
The middle name thing isn't confusing, I just feel like I'm constantly correcting people at the doctor's office and other places where I have to use his legal name.

If you're going to call him Henry or Adam, then just make it his first name and use Joshua as the middle name.
That's what I was thinking, but for some reason DH liked how both those names flowed together with Joshua being first. But really DH, how many times do you say a person's name altogether - first, middle, last - almost never, so flow probably isn't that important (IMO).
