1st Trimester

Due date pushed back 2 wks after 1st appt.....

We had our first appt today, at what we thought was 10 weeks (I knew the date of my last period....). The baby looks great, but is measuring at 8 weeks, so they pushed my date back to March 28th. The heartbeat was strong and everything looked fine, but I feel bummed about the 2 weeks. Silly, right? Embarrassed

  • I'd probably be bummed too, but as long as baby is healthy, it's still a great appt!!

  • No, not silly at all.  I had the same thing- we thought htat I was 8 weeks, but I was only measuring 6.  We couldn't see the heartbeat or fetal pole, so back in for next week for another appt.  It is a little disappointing that the LO won't be here sooner, but think of it as a couple of extra weeks with the baby so close.

  • Every time I go, I get a different due date.  I'm to the point where I say "I'm due the 1st half of March" lol
  • Are your cycles longer than normal? If you go by when you ovulate instead of last lmp due dates are a little more accurate. Maybe you ovulated late that would affect how far along you are. It's sucks to have the due date changed, but if you fast forward to your due date the two weeks could mean a little extra growth for you LO.
  • You're not being silly at all!  I know I was disappointed when I went in for my first appointment last week, and they moved my due date back by a week.  I was getting all excited about being ten weeks, but I was only nine.  No one likes to feel like they have to spend more time in the first trimester!
  • We are due on the same date.  I had the same thing too at my 1st appt.  I thought I was 7-8 weeks along and told me I was maybe 5 weeks.  I was a little upset, but I am fine with it now.  I have had 2 u/s and things are progressing good.  Although, I am having a lot of nausea and wish I was further along.
