Gift Suggestions for toddler in hospital?

Hi Ladies - I do not have children so I never post on here, but I need helps from the moms out there. We have a friend whose 2 year old daughter just had her third heart surgery. We plan to go visit her when she gets out of the ICU, and I want to bring some type of gift, but I am not sure what to get. She already has stuffed animals down there, so I am stuck. Any suggestions are very welcome!

  • oh how sad!

My almost 2 year is very obsessed w/ Dora the Explorer - and loves anything w/ Dora on it so a Dora doll/pillow/blanket/pajamas, etc would probsbly be a hit.  Also - drums, maracas, etc. anything that makes noise.  Also stickers are big w/ most kids that age, crayons or markers (they make special easy to grip crayons for beginners).  I'm not sure if there are any dietary restrictions, but my DD had her first lollipop yesterday and she was very, very pleased with it!  You might bring a special treat like that if the parents and doc are OK w/ it.

  • Toys R Us divides things into age categories, you can check there for ideas. Some things they have are Mr Potato Head, puzzles, a bunch of books.

You could probably go to the sale bin at Target and get some age appropriate stuff like stickers, coloring books, crayons, etc for a 2 year and make a little bag of a bunch of stuff. My DD loves all the little things from there.

  • I have read/heard that if a child is in the hospital something special can be to bring them a pillow or pillow case that isn't hospital issued, so getting her a Dora or Disney Princess pillow or pillow case could be really cool because it's something she could use right away, and then maybe a book to go along with it.
