NSAHMR: What a different kind of day today was...

As some of you know I do freelance photography on the side. A couple of weeks ago a friend asked me if I was willing to take pictures of their 'sunrise ceremony' (commitment ceremony). They have been together for 7 years and they did their own ceremony just the two of them on the beach.
Later I joined them for brunch at a restaurant with other friends to celebrate their day.
All in all- it was just very beautiful and special. It was an honor to be there to capture it for them on film. But honestly, it made me so sad and torn. I have shot soooo many weddings over the years and I have never had these feelings. I just do not understand what difference it makes when it comes down to who you fall in love with.
Anyway- I thought I would share a couple of the shots. These were the two i picked- there were a couple of kissing shots- that I just chose not to add/share

What a great time of day! I never would have thought of that one. Good job Stacy.
And I agree with you about the same sex thing. Such BS. Totally starting a tangent here, but I just read an article about how ss couples have a hard time finding vendors/locations because they're ss ceremonies.
yeah I wasn't sure if it was my pregnancy hormones or overthinking the whole thing- but it was very bittersweet. Special- but I was just rather sad over the whole thing.
I can't take any credit for their ceremony- they came up with the entire thing- I just snapped some pics.
I was very very happy to do it for them.
How beautiful! I probably would have been emotional too. It's such BS that not every person in this country who wants to get married can. Love is love. Who cares if it's between a man and woman, two men or two women. This really ticks me off.

My mother in law and her partner are getting married in Provincetwon Rhode Island in September. They've been together for 10 years and she's so excited. Which makes me sad, she so far has only told us and her brother. Not my sister in law or any of her other 7 brothers and sisters. Said they chose to only tell the people who are going to be happy about it. So sad.
Provincetown is in MA...unless there are two. That is sad that your MIL doesn't feel comfortable sharing something so special with the people she loves. I was just thinking about SS marriage today and how stupid the jokes are that people make about it like: oh who is going to wear the dress. It's just not funny.
