I've actually GAINED weight!

Two months ago, I began working out. Not because I wanted to lose weight (I was 117 and flabby... I'm 5 feet 2 inches tall), but to tone up and get my heart into shape. My husband and I are considering TTC in a few months, give or take. I usually start my workout with running or doing the elliptical for 1-2 miles, then I go and pump some iron Wink . I work out my arms and legs. I've come to realize that the scale is PURE EVIL. It's Satan's little minion... meant to scare off good girls from workin' out. Today I weigh 119 - I've been hovering around 118 until today. I definitely have thinner hips and a thinner tummy, so I am  pretty sure (HOPING AND PRAYING, really) that it's muscle-gain. Any one else ready to chuck that scale out the window? Tongue Tied

Re: I've actually GAINED weight!

  • I really wouldn't worry about 1-2 lbs.  I lost 30 lbs PP in 2 weeks but have been slow going since....

  • Thank you! Usually I ignore the scale. But since I've started working out, now I get curious and gravitate to the darn scale. Evil thing. Tongue Tied

  • You are just building muscle. So not a bad thing.

  • You'll probably see the scale go up a little in the beginning, that should be your body transitioning over to muscle, then it will start to drop as you burn off fat and get tone.

I would ignore the scale for the first few weeks, that way when you get back on it will be a nice surprise!  Big Smile

    Thank you, ladies!

Thanks for this suggestion. I think I'll steer clear from it. I'd love to see a surprise on the scale. I'd also like to be able to actually FLEX my arms. I'm so pathetically weak, but it's building slowly! :)
