I read somewhere that when you're pregnant you shouldn't do a lot of heavy lifting. I lift a full laundary basket up and down the stairs all the time. DH works nights so he is usually sleeping during the day and I dont want to wake him up to do it. Is this really a big deal or should I take it more seriously?
Re: Heavy Lifting
depends how heavy the laundry basket it...I think if its less than 30lbs or so its okay. Just make sure you're lifting properly with your legs and not with your back/ab muscles. But I think it also depends on how much you would/could lift before you were pregnant.
I work in a farm store and am always being asked to like 50lb + bags of feed. No one there knows I'm pregnant so its hard to always find excuses to pass it off to someone else.

A full laundry basket isn't "heavy lifting" unless it's full of bricks ;-)

I think it is something about putting added stress on your abdominal area could cause harm (?) --same reason everything says when you exercise not to do sit ups, crunches etc...
(PS: JJSunshine, we have the same DD. Well mines March 28 according to my LMP , won't have my dating U/S until Sept 22
)

Right now my DD is March 28th also
I have my dating U/S this Tuesday, lets keep eachn other updated!
You're so lucky to have it so soon!!! They wouldn't do mine until week 12-13. I have a check up on the 25th but its just with my Family Doctor...so I don't think he'll do anything cool. I haven't been to an OBGYN because my doctor went on holidays just after my first doctor appt and I needed to get him the name of a OBGYN I wanted to use in my area. He's back tomorrow so hopefully I'll get an appt with the obgyn soon and they'll do a U/S or even a doppler to I know theres actually something in there (I haven't even had any blood work done yet because my doc f'd up...).
Wow, our babies are starting to produce pee today! (according to your little box at the end of your post). Pee has never been so exciting!
Haha yeah I pretty much check that ticker every day to see the fun new developments. Maybe you should switch to another docs office that will do a U/S at 8-9 weeks? I think that would drive me crazy if I had to wait until week 12 or 13!! At least you will see more at your appointment though instead of just a little blob on a screen.
Thank you, this make me feel better and less worried.
not to start anything (but it seems like you are), is this really a necessary comment? Its completely normal to want to see your baby ASAP. If i had a million dollars I would buy a U/S machine and see my baby every day
(wish I could find a emoticon of a troll)
Yes WAS this necessary? Sounds like you're either very immature or you get off on being nasty on these boards. Theres no need for name calling, we are all adults here not 10 year olds.
My oldest son weighs more than 30 pounds and there is no way I could go a whole pregnancy without lifting him. You do what you have to.
Thank you!
you could be the founder of this website for all I care. That doesn't change the fact that your annoying me with your rudeness.
