tattoo - update and new poll

One of the things a few people voiced concerns about was that the birds seemed kind of romantic vs family/fun, and I totally agree. I changed the direction they were flying and that helped, but when I was looking at the design today it occurred to me that maybe it reads as romantic because of the *type* of birds (swallows). So I did a little searching and tweaking and came up with the following design:

What do you think? I wanted something that wouldn't be interpreted as romantic, but that also wasn't too cartoony (my sons are children but it's going to be on my body, kwim?).

After experimenting, decided I still wanted both birds in flight (vs one flying, one standing as someone suggested) - does it work to have these birds facing each other? They can be flipped, but they just fit together better this way - but if they still read as lovebirds I'll flip one of them.

    Love this!  When are you gonna do it?  Will you go with black or some other color? You've made me consider getting another tat...maybe a little bee since I call Libby "Lizzy B my Busy Bee..."  I'll probably wait until we have the next kiddo though so I can get both memorialized in art.

    I'll get it done sometime before I go back to work - so probably next month. A friend and I are going to make a special trip to Sydney (she has a few tats and wants another to symbolize her daughter) because the artists are a lot better there. 

    A bee would be so cute! You could always get one now (or whenever) and leave space for something else - or do you want one thing that would memorialize both of them?

    I voted for the new one! I like the birds themselves better and even though they're facing each other, they don't look romantic at all. They look playful and the design looks really nice =)
