I love Harper but it is gaining popularity fast and I'm afraid it will be the next Madelyn. Can't help but think of Owen Wilson when I hear Owen which is just NMS, but if you love it then that's all that matters.
I don't know if you care about popularity...but being a music teacher myself, I've seen tons of kids named Owen already. And Harper is literally brought up daily on this board. It's rising out of nowhere quickly!!!

They're both very trendy and popular (especially Owen) but obviously you're not going for obscure so I think that would be fine. If you're bothered by the popularity, though, I'd go with something else as they're both likely to rise even higher.
I actually know 2 Owens born in the past few months and a Harper born this week. They're cute names, though not my personal style.

Love them both! I know one Owen and no Harpers. Owen was one of our top picks, but I mentioned it about 5 years ago and now my friend has a son, Owen. DH was upset, I said, ya snooze ya lose.
I like Owen. I've been seeing Harper a lot lately and while I don't normally like last names as FNs, especially for girls, I think that one's "sort of OK." More fun and less pretentious-sounding than a lot of them. I agree with others that it's rapidly gaining popularity though so if you want something a little different, I'd go to Nymbler and see what you can find.
I LOVE both of these names. They are definitely on the rise in popularity but that could be regional since you think they are more unique than PP are saying. Harper was on my short list for girls but we are having a boy--I will still consider it in the future even it is is more popular than it is now!
Re: WDYT of Owen & Harper?
Owen is not "different"...I know about 5 different baby Owens. And it always reminds me of the movie "Throw Mama From the Train"
"OWEN doesn't HAVE any friends!!!"
Also, DH's brother is names Kenneth Owen, which I think sounds really nice.
I like Owen, but it's overused to me. Harper is trendy and I don't like it.
Ditto, and I agree with PPs that neither name is "different." I like your DD's name much better, fwiw.
i like them both.
i dont know anyone named owen but did go to school with a girl named harper.
