Minnesota Babies

<24 hrs until I'm a mom

Whoa!  I'm feeling anxious, excited, nervous, giddy, scared and so much more right now.   This breech baby of mine won't flip, so we're having a c-section tomorrow.  I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep tonight.

Good thing I have lots of cleaning to do this afternoon to pass the time.

Any words of wisdom from those who have been in similar circumstances?

  • Both of my boys were C's. As soon as they tell you to get up and walk around, about 12 hours after my c's, do it. The sooner you are up and moving, the sooner you start to heal and the sooner you can go home.

  • Good luck & as hard as it is to sleep try to get some shut eye. Your life will never be "slow" again after tomorrow
  • No advice about a c/s, but I will wish you good luck!  I had all the same feelings the day before my induction and slept about 2 hours, I was so nervous.  It all washed away when I saw her.

  • I don't know if I'm too late, but...

I had a breech baby as well, but we didn't know until we got to the hospital!  Having a c-section wasn't too bad, I didn't really have to go through labor at all, which was awesome!  There were a few things I was not prepared for, and did not like: I shivered a ton right after the pulled DD out, apparently it is from the anesthesia.  Also, I could not feel my legs all day, like until that evening.  I thought it would wear off a lot sooner.  We had a ton of visitors the first day, which I would not recommend.  I was so tired and laid up...all I wanted to do was rest, but felt like I needed to stay up.

Good luck!  You're in good hands, and you get to meet your baby soon!  YAY!! :)

Also, I don't know if your husband is planning on video taping.  We didn't, and I wish we would have.   It was great seeing her right after they pulled her out, but I didn't actually get to see her being born, and I wish I would have!

  • I was breech too, and we had a scheduled c section. It really was not that bad, we're having c section #2 in October. Keep on top of your pain meds and stool softeners!! And invest in some granny panties that ride high so your underwear don't rest on your incision, that's the other advice I got that sounds silly but was very valuable.

Good luck! Try to get some rest tonight, I know it's hard!

This!  The narcotics constipate like you wouldn't believe.  So take lots of stool softner and and fiber tabs if needed.  And granny panties are a must.  And if you have to take something to help you sleep I would suggest that (like a sleep aid).

Good luck.  I've had both a vaginal and c-section and they both had pluses and minuses.  It was nice not having to go through the labor part.
