TTC After a Loss

Better late than never? (NBR)

Uh, who sends a wedding gift a year after the wedding?

We just got a pressure cooker (WTF do you use one of those for anyway?) from one of DH's parent's friend.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it!  But WTF?

Just had a funny thought......maybe they wanted to make sure we stayed together before they made the investment?  Hmm

  • Hahaha. That is random. And no idea what a pressure cooker is for. Let me know when you find out. Surprise

  • You can use a pressure cooker for canning!! LOL-I don't know why I know that. That's very weird they sent you a gift a year after the fact.

We got wedding presents up until a year and half after our wedding.

Um pressure cookers cook food in a pressurized manner?!?!?!?  LOL I don't know I barely cook, DH is the wife in our house.

  • I think it is acceptable (although not common) to get wedding gifts up to a year after a wedding.  The pressure cooker is an unusual choice - I didn't even know they still made those things!!  My mom used to have one, but I am fairly certain that she got rid of it years ago.

Although, I guess it's nice that they got you something, albeit something less than useful.  My 2 adult male cousins (they are brothers) both attended my wedding (one is married, but his wife couldn't come) and neither of them got me anything - ever.  Not that I needed a gift, but a card would have been nice.

Good luck looking up recipes for the pressure cooker I'd be interested to see what you make in it - I think my mom used it to make swiss steak.

  • You can cook really fast in a pressure cooker. The meat isn't pretty, though. It's good for casseroles and such. Be careful, though, my friend burnt her hand on hers.

We had a small wedding, 50 people including us.  And I was surprised at the people that did not give us gifts.  Not that we needed it.  But when it is only 50 people, it is a bit more noticeable.  Maybe we still have a pressure cooker heading our way.

  • Nice thought I guess...

There were relatives at our wedding that never got us gifts. Some of them had said they were waiting on it, but we never got it lol. It's been over 2 years so I'm not holding my breath.
