Planning on Atticus if this one is a boy. I am the type that needs a nickname though. I am thinking about going with a MN that starts with a J and going with A.J. as a nn. But then my other option is going with a middle name that starts with a Z and going with Az as the nn. Wondering if this would be too wierd.
Re: Too wierd for a NN?
Would it be A Z? or Azzz? I guess I don't mind either one but some nicknames just happen even if you want them to be something else.
Babynamewizard lists these as nicknames for Atticus:
Ace Atty(child)
Goose (At-a-goose)Gus
Atti
I love the Az nickname. I had a friend who went my Azreal and everyone called him Az. Very cute.
You could do Atticus Zane
Beware of the simiilarity of Az to A$$.
And when showing possession, people may tend to say "That's Az's spoon."
AJ =
Az= Please don't. He will be called A$$ for his entire life....
i like a.j.
but i have to agree with some of the other replies, az could sound like or be too similar to a$$
IMO, if you're giong to give your kid a great and bold name like Atticus, you shouldn't "waste" it by calling him by his initials. I'm fine with nicknames in general, but I would just informally shorten it to Att, Atti, or even Gus, for when you ask him to pass the mashed potatoes across the table, kwim?
Not a fan of Az in any way.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Yup. Because I know a lot of people, who, when trying to avoid saying "a$$", will say "That smells like Azz, gross."
So I'd consider looking for another NN.
Personally I see Atticus and I think the natural NN is Finch.
