I know my two @ home showers will be pretty big, just like my wedding was.. I am curious to hear what everyone thinks is a customary amount of people to have @ a shower... I know it all depends on costs & if you know allot of people etc,but I would still like to see what everyone thinks?
Re: How many guests is too many @ a shower?
I am having one big shower. There was about 55-60 invited. Not sure how many will be able to come, but I'm guessing it will be around 40-45.
I think once you get over 75 at one shower its a little big in my opinion.
Depends on your social circle. For my in-laws side, I hear 60 invites have been sent (I invited 2 friends). No idea.
My parents' friends: come & go Sun afternoon shower for at least 100 people. Have 10-14 hostesses. Very typical.
why not have 2 in one day family in early afternoon, and all small friends dinner get together. Or something like that so you can spend time with fam and friends while not being overwhelmed.
There are going to be around 30 guests at my shower.
I am inviting 30 expecting 25, but mine is being held at a restaurant and is being catered, so I didn't want to go overboard since my hostesses are paying per head.
I will say I went to a shower a month ago and there were 45 people there. The gift opening was a little painful, it took forever, a few people left while the mom to be was opening gifts.
Number two
I think 20-30 people is normal for any single shower... that being said, one of my baby showers will be a lot bigger than that. I'm having separate showers for family and friends, just like I did for my wedding. My family shower will probably be 20-30. And my friends shower will be like 50-60. We're doing a co-ed shower and inviting like 75 people, but I think only about 50 will be able to come. I know it's a lot. If it was just my girlfriends, it would be about 30... but DH and I wanted a co-ed thing, so we have to invite my gfs' SOs and his friends and their SOs, so it kind of blew up. We offered to and will be paying for the room rental fee so that my sister and SIL who are hosting don't go broke.
