I can't stand seeing a child over the age of say 18 months with a pacifier!! Especially when they have a mouth full of teeth and you can't understand a word they say when it's in.
I saw a girl in the mall the other day with a paci in and walking around with her mother. Then I saw them trying on school uniforms... so this kid must have been at least 5 or 6 years old! With a damn pacifier in her mouth!!!!! I really hope they know a great orthodontist!
Yeah, I think I read somewhere that 1 year/12 months should be the cut-off.
Though, on the other side, I hate it when my FIL 'praises' my daughter for not ever using a pacifier in front of my BIL/SIL because their kid STILL has a pacifier at 24 months. Like, "Isn't that amazing? Betty never uses a pacifier!"
It's like, yes, 24 months is too old for a paci, but he doesn't have to single out my kid for not using one in front of them. Embarrassing the parents only creates problems, not solves them.
Me too. I have a feeling I'm going to have a fight on my hands trying to break Emerson of her paci & her damn bottle too. She LOVES them both. She squeals with delight everytime she sees them!
Please, yell at me if at 18 months my child still has her damn frog wubanubb! LMAO!
Lol. I know what you mean. I have a friend whose daughter is almost two and she will take the paci in when she wants to talk, but then pops it right back in between sentences.
Aside from possible orthadontal issues, I think it is easier to break the habit at a younger age as opposed to any older.

This. I'm going to "try" to wean Bobby at about a year. I, personally, think that the whole "no paci after 6 months" thing is a bit extreme.
My thought was once your LO is off the bottle, there is no need for a paci. I was going to take DS's away when we transitioned off the bottle completely, but around 5 1/2 months, he stopped using one. He kept spitting it out, so I stopped giving it to him.
Oh my gosh, this is me 100%. One of my good friends sons is almost 3 still walks around with a pacifier and he's not potty trained yet (which, I know is hard and especially with boys, if they truely are not ready) but he looks and acts so much older, it makes me nuts.
