Lets talk finger foods

After a long discussion with Austin's pedi this am we decide to put Austin on soy. DH and I both have extensive food allergies so this is going to be our best bet.

Austin is not a big eater, never has been. I have been relying on his formula to give him the nutrients he needs. Now that we are converting to soy milk, I am worried how we are gonna supplement his nutrients.

He almost refuses to eat purees anymore and I can barely get him to eat table foods. He may eat 3 or 4 bites and than he is done.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get their LO's to eat.

  • Dipping sauces? Or maybe stuff that is messy will be more "fun"? Like bananas, avacado, oranges... That's all I have, obv we aren't at this stage yet! Good luck! Oh and I think they have special kids soy milk that has more vitamins... Not sure on that though.

  • Wish I had some advice for you, but I don't. Alexa eats great at daycare (so I'm told) but barely touches anything at home, unless you count Goldfish that is ;) She has been on table food since 9 months and hasn't touched a puree since. She is in the 3rd percentile for weight as of her doc appt this morning so I worry too.

  • I don't know if this will help because Caroline has always been a "good" eater.  Her favorite things are her veggies.  She loves broccoli, green beans, peas, corn, sweet potatoes...pretty much anything.  I keep frozen organic bags of all types of veggies and just steam them before meals and she goes to town.

One thing I've noticed is that if she is distracted she doesn't eat as much.

Kim: do you think she eats better at daycare because that's what the other kids are doing?  She has them as an example?
