SD#3 and SS have two different mom's. Yes my H was a sl^t puppy in his early 20s.
whoa! You really have your hands full! What's the custody/visitation agreement on all those?
It was more difficult when they were younger (DH and I started dating 7 years ago and married 4.5)
Currently during school every other weekend. During summer every other week. We make sure both families get them on major holidays. We also get Wednesday night during school but it was hard on the kids so we see them during the week at there various activities (gymnastics, track, baseball, etc).
TG...what age is the child now and what age when you married?
I have a SD that is 15 (16 in oct)
I also have have SD#2 that is 8 and DS that is 4 and one due in Feb!!
we have been together for 3 years and married in Nov. its been really tough because there is a significant age dif in me and DH so i think that adds to it!
I have a SS who is 15 and a SD who is 23. SD has a 4 month old baby
Paris, were you married to your hubby back when the 23 yr old was a teen? As I've stated before, things are not going well with my SS. I'm just wondering if it's more of an age situation where he's in his rough teen years and will get passed it or if it's more of a character type thing. Did your 23 yr old have a rough patch (meaning a year or more) and then later bond a little better with you?
Hi all, I have been lurking for the last couple years on and off. I'm going to awe you guys. I am a BM to 3 son's age 16,14,10, and have a 15 yr old DD. I am also have 2 SD ages 10 & 8.
My DH & I have been together for 7 yrs. As the kids get older it get's hard. I thought the hard part was everyone adjusting to each other. Especially with so many children, but that was the easy part compared to what comes as the kids get older. At least that is what I am experiencing. So yes it is normal to begin to have difficulties even when you have been in the kids lives for years.
I"m mostly a lurker but have posted a couple of times. I'm a custodial stepmom of a 16 year old boy. He's a great kid and we've had no real problems with him. The only problems we've had have to do with BM and her substance abuse. That has required some special attention to SS but he's respectful, gets great grades, has lots of friends and seems very well adjusted.
SS is almost 16. We have just survived the horror known as Driver's Ed. In Nov we enter the terror known as "I am 16 and have a driver's license, can I borrow the car?"
He's been my SS since he was 8.
We've been through the fun stages of lying about homework, attempted manipulation of parental units, and eyerolling 101. But to be fair he's been through the funtastic experience of gaining 3 new half-siblings in 3 years and has had a crying baby at both houses for years. Poor kid. (Before you start feeling sorry for the wretch, know that he's on a 3 week vacation in Ireland with granny having a blast, so being the oldest grandkid has some HUGE perks.)
We been together for 5 yrs, married for 18 months. The only issues I have is BM telling skids bad things about me which didn't began until after we got married. (especially comments that she doesn't think my husband will have anymore children, I'm not their stepmom, etc)SS5 was 9 months when we started dating so he always knew me but overall me and SS12 have a good relationship. I'm freaking out cuz he's getting hair on his chin and chest!!! Yikes
Re: Who here has older Skids? ...over age 10 or so
::raises hand::
and yes it is very challenging for me!

or, how I like to put it, they knew how to tie their shoes when we met-Thank God!
