Trying to Get Pregnant

Should I worry??

AF has never come late.....and now it's a week late, and still no BFP :(:(:(  I've had 3 BFN and I'm worried that I'm not pregnant and maybe something is wrong.  It's not like I've been stressed lately or anything.  I've been more emotional than normal, fatigued, and feeling bloated...but that's about it.  I dont' know if it's in my head or what.  I tried to make an appt to see my dr for a blood test, but she won't be in until Wednesday. I'd rather not wait, but I guess I will.

Anybody relate to this??  What was the outcome??

Re: Should I worry??

  • What a shockingly new question.  You ovulated late.  Don't waste your dr.'s time. Test every week until you hit 60 days.  YWIA

Edit:  After 60 days and no BFP, THEN call your dr.

  • I'm still a newbie.  However in my short time here it seems like long cycles are a common question here.

You really have no idea if you are late unless you are charting (click my ticker for info and to sign up).

The best advice is to test once a week until BFP or CD60 then call your doctor.

You are trying to make an appt for a blood test when you don't even have a +HPT? Seriously? You are a moron. NOTHING IS WRONG! Don't waste your doctor's time with this bs.

  • Solely based on what you wrote in your post, nothing is wrong - the most healthy and regular of women can have longer periods from time to time.  If you hit 60 days and no period, your doc can prescribe Provera to bring on your period.  At that time, they may want to do further testing, but most likely  not.  As I said, it's normal for this to happen and your doc won't jump to any conclusions until longer periods becomes a chronic pattern for you.

You also could have ovulated later than usual, making you period come later than normal.  Good luck

Edit:  The HPT is so wrong.  You def should waste your dr.s time and go in there for her to confirm. zOmg can I be godmom??

  • I am ALWAYS on a 27-28 day cycle, then I randomly had a 36 day cycle thrown in there a couple months ago. I wasn't doing anything different...now things are back to normal.

  • Hi,

Like you, my period is "late" for the first time in years. I am not pregnant. Because I am new to TTC, I don't have a previous chart or temperature history to tell me when I ovulated, so I have to assume that either I ovulated late for the first time in recent memory and will get AF any day now or am having my first anovulatory cycle. Neither one of those is any real cause for concern.

If you really want a blood test but don't want to wait, google "any lab test now". There might be one in your area. You can walk in with no appointment and get your test results in a few hours.

    Good luck.

  • Nothing is wrong. DO NOT waste your doctor's time or your money. You just ovulated late. Test once a week until you reach 60 days. If you reach 60 days with no +HPT and no AF, THEN you may call your doctor.

Oh and you should consider charting so that you won't be asking this question next time. You're welcome.

    Good job! Yes

  • I had a month about a year ago where AF was 9 days late with no explanation. AF started like normal just really late and I was back on my normal schedule the next month.

  • Am I allowed to ask if you are trying to get pregnant or if this is an accidental slip up? Just for my own curiosity.

The previous posters provided some good advice. Being late (expecially when you are not aware of your cycles and how they work) is not anything to be alarmed about because it will continue to happen.

Personally, I was not aware of my cycles until just recently, and have been doing a better job paying attention to them. This happened only after I went 40 days on a should be 30-35 day schedule, and that freaked me out.

Long story short, being late doesn't mean your pregnant. (ETA : otherwise we wouldn't need pregnancy tests!) If this is something you are trying to prevent, look into some real methods of doing so so you don't have to freak out each month when your a couple days late. Also, knowing how your body acts and goes through cycles every month will give you some peace of mind.

If you are trying to get pregnant, welcome, read the posts and get comfortable with what your body is doing and good luck!

  • Well I do appreciate the comments from the polite people.  I'm new here and just trying to see what everyone else has been through.  I find it real off-putting to ask a question and get such a rash of hostility.  I thought this would be a welcoming forum with people trying to share their experiences and advice...not one where people jump on you and make you feel like an idiot.

I do keep track of my cycles and am always running 29-30 days and because I'm trying to get pregnant I thought by being late, I'd be seeing my positive test results.  That's not the case yet, and from those of you who are helpful, I see that yes, it can be common. I apologize for not knowing EVERYTHING.

For being my first post in this community - it may be my last. I don't need people to make me feel completely stupid for asking a question.

Trust me you won't be missed.  How about you spend FIVE seconds looking through old posts before you made it ALL about you.  You would see this same fuvking question posted at least 2 times today ALREADY.  So try and be an original noob and take it like a man and say sorry and move the fuvk on.  Sitting here crying about us being mean and needing support will get you nowhere here.  LURK before you post.

  • Google is your friend. Research research research! Then ask. This board is full of knowledgeable women who know what they are talking about, BUT (big one) this isn't a personal encyclopedia, short order kitchen, search engine, or whatever you want to call it. No one is here to do your research for you. :)www.google.com

"Keeping track of your cycle" is not the same as charting. Charting temps will allow you to confirm ovulation with a temp shift. Its the only way to confirm the elusive O. www.fertilityfriend.com

Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a GREAT book and resource. And you can get it REALLY cheap on www.half.com

And lurk the board a while. If you can't find something and you think someone may have asked already...try searching the board for it. There is a nifty little search bar and the bottom of the screen!

This won't help you know EVERYTHING, but it will help you know a lot more about your body and how it works.

  • Thank you! And I do really apologize to anyone I offended.. I moved over to the New to the Bump board and will do more browsing.  Hormones have just been crazy today (no excuse) and Fri the 13th probably doesn't help with anything.  Again - really sorry and good luck to everyone who's TTC.  I'll definitely check out fertility friend and do some more research.

Let me guess, you track by counting the days on a calander? That's not tracking. That's counting. Everyone has a wonky cycle every now & then and they just ovulate later. No biggie. BUT, if you do not know if/when you ovulate, you can't know if you are really "late". The only way to know if/when you ovulate is by taking your temperature every.single.morning ( this is what we all refer to as "charting"). Please click on the "info for newbies" link in my siggy and also put on some BGP. We all were newbies once and got flamed. It's all about how you deal with being flamed.

  • What happened to the newbie link people used to link to in their signature?  Sounds like OP would be able to use the info... Mchupie used to have it, I think, but I don't see it in any of the siggys now?

That will probably not help you a whole lot. Don't run away from this board because you got some snarky answers. There is a lot of good info in this thread also. Lurk a bit more, try to google and read through the last couple of days on this board to see if your question was answered already and if not, feel free to post your questions anytime.
