need new obgyn..

ok, i keep getting a rash on my neck.  i called my obgyn's office and the girl who answered said....WE DON'T TREAT RASHES. I think I had posted that before and I told her, i knew she didn't but needed to know what I needed to do and what I could apply.

I go to a derm today and got a very low dose steriod cream.  He told me to contact her and clear it with her before I started. Well, I called at 1:30, left a message and now it is almost 7 and NO phone call back.

Another issue...Last Wed i went in and gave a sample bc i thought I had a bladder infection. Fri and noon, still no call, still burning so i called, they were gone. spoke with doc on call.  he called me in meds. went in monday for my normal check up & she said everything was neg and to stop, took a swab and said i looked red down there.  they would have results in 48 hours but if I didn't hear from them then everything is fine.  How can everything be fine when my (you know what) is on fire!!! Then after today not calling about the cream...I really do think I need to find someone else quick!!!

Am I just being bitchy or would you look into another doc????

Re: need new obgyn..

  • I would probably look for a new one or at least express my frustrations to them. I understand every office is busy and there are many patients being seen, but you still want to feel like your concerns are being addressed and that you are being taken care of properly. That is silly not to return calls.

  • Communication is very important IMO and sounds like your OB office is having trouble with that.  I would call and ask to talk to the office manager and tell them your recent issues.  They should know that their patients are getting calls returned in a timely manner.  Tell them you are thinking about switching practices if it doesn't improve and see what they say.  FWIW, whenever I've called my OB office a nurse has always called me back within a couple of hours.  They are also very quick to get me in if I have any concerns.  Good luck and I hope your (you know what) feels better.  Sounds to me like you just have irritation.  Try some Desitin.  Worked well for me when I had a similar problem.  Also try wearing boxers or going commando with loose shorts and skirts for a few days.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • Unless there is something you really like about this place that you think would be hard to find elsewhere, I would switch. I don't want to have a heart to heart with my health care provider about how it would be really great if they could return my calls. They get quite a lot of money for each patient. If they don't have the common sense and courtesy to call me, I'll find someone else. ESPECIALLY when dealing with possible vaginal infections during pregnancy. As far as I can tell, drs get pretty concerned about that. And even if it isn't a big health risk to you or baby, who wants to be uncomfortable for days on end? I'd switch now because I've heard it gets more complicated later in the pregnancy.

For your possible infection: I'd lay off sugar and fruit for a few days and load up on probiotics and pure cranberry juice (not the kind that has other juices or any sugar, just cranberries and water). Doing that will help with a yeast infection or a UTI.

    GL and feel better!

  • I would make the switch. No matter how busy they are, they should be able to take the time to address your concerns and call you back!
  • I would switch docs.  If you are still having burning when you pee maybe try uristat,  it's over the counter, it's a cat. B.  It takes the sting out.  It will turn your pee BRIGHT orange/yellow so wear a panty liner, any drip will stain your undies.

  • I would def. look for a new doctor, that is very unprofessional.
  • I would find a new one. My Dr this time is different from my previous pregnancy because they stopped delivering babies. This one is great. An actual person answers the phone every time I call and they have been very responsive to issues that have come up. I had bleeding twice and they called me back promptly and managed to get me in for an ultrasound that day on  both occasions. There is a better Dr out there for you....
