DH is an only child and wants to be one and done. I have 3 siblings and I want 3 more. I want to see how everyone else is, if it's normal that only children just want one child? Or maybe just if the # of siblings you have corresponds with the # of kids you want?

DH and I both have two siblings each. We want one of each (boy and girl) and are preparing to have at the most three kids. We have our princess so if we have a boy next, we will probably be done.

DH and I both come from a family with 3 children. And at this point we both would like one more child, and if that goes well maybe 3. But 3 is an odd number and one child was always left out. So we'd like to keep it even.

DH is youngest of three and I'm the younger of two. We both are leaning towards three kids.

I have two close girlfriends who are only children and they have both told me that they definitely want more than one. They feel like they missed out on something by not having siblings.

I'm an only child. Before we had DS I thought I wanted 2-4 kids. Between all of the complications (infertility, then a growth restriction where DS was 4.5lbs full term but no one knew it, then I got an auto immune disorder which they think stems of pregnancy/birth and had to stop breastfeeding b/c of it) I am not sure we'll (be able to) have anymore. I'm okay with it right now and definitely wouldn't WANT another one right now b/c I feel DS is still a baby, but I might feel differently down the road. However, I am thinking I will be okay with it only b/c I was an only child so I know it's not awful and definitely has its perks!

DH is an only child, is fine with one & done. I have 2 brothers & I want one more LO. We'll most likely have one more because I want DD to have a sibling, but we'll definitely be done at 2.

I have 4 siblings and DH has 1. He would like it to be 2, but I would love it to be 4 or 5. We are thing about once we have #2 we will wait a few years and see if we want more. If were are doing good money wise we will have more for sure.

I'm an only child. DH is 1 of 3. I wish I had a siblings so I always wanted to have 2. At first DH only wanted one but once we had our first he couldn't wait to have another one. We're still up in the air re: baby # 3.

I feel girls feels it more re: wanting a sibling. Where as boys are ok being an only child.

I am an only child...I refer to myself as a lonely only. My parents worked alot and they worked nights so I was alone alot. Therefore I want my child to have brothers and sisters...I used to dream of 4, but I will settle for 3.

Dh is one of 2 and would be happy with two, but says three is good too.

I am the oldest of 3 and at this point I'd like at least one more; DH is the oldest of 4 and at this point he'd like two more. I say 'at this point' because there's definitely a chance both our numbers could change, either way!

sidenote - my siblings are more than content w/ 1-2 kids too. no one wants a brood like mom had.

I think it definitely plays into it... but it can go either way, depending on good relationships w/ siblings vs. bad relationships..

DH has 1 sibling and is happy w/ 2 kids.

I have 2 siblings and I want 2-3 kids (now). I used to want 4...until I had 1 But we grew up in a different country then my extended family (which is huge) and I always wished we had more family around. So I used to want 4 so that we had a large family (around us).

My DH is an only child, and I grew up with a younger brother. We'd like to have 2 children, ideally of course it would be nice to have one of each but we really don't care either way. DH spent a lot of time growing up with a cousin that was around the same age, so he said he felt like he almost had a sibling but he also wanted us to have more than one child so that our LO's could grow up experiencing what it was like to have a sibling. That being said, there are 4 years between my brother and I and we weren't really close at all growing up. So we're hoping to only have 2-3 years in between our LO's in hopes that they'll be a bit closer.

I am 1 of 5 and DH is 1 of 4. We both want at least 3 kids. Here is our reasons:

1. We have two older relatives in their 50's who are the "only child" they both have stated it's very hard as their parents age because they can't move away and have to take care of them as their health declines....just overwhelming at times.

2. I lost my only brother 8 years ago and I have since met people who lost their only sibling as a young kid/adult and it has been devestating for them and they feel responsible and guilty as the child left. I at least have other siblings here to support me and my parents.

3. I have several friends who are 1 of 2 and a lot of them didnt always get a long. They say it would have been nice to have a 3rd around to mix things up a bit.

4. We love kids and big families!!!

I had a brother who passed when I was a teenager. I have always wanted 4 kids. DH has 1 sibling and before he met me he wanted 2 kids. Now we talk about 4, maybe 3.

I have 4 siblings (5 of us all together) and I wanted at least 3 kids myself. DH only has one sister and would be happy with only 2 kids. We settled on having 3 ourselves. We are getting too old for me to want to have more than that anyway and I love being a SAHM (would have to bring in some money if we had more!).
