I tried to talk to my OB last week about if it would be okay for me to start trying to induce labor naturally at 36 weeks or so, but he did not say one way or another, and basically said "it won't work" I am already 2cm dilated and 80% effaced, my cervix is really soft... I had a quick labor with my DS, so I am hopeful that if things get rolling they will move swiftly.
I'm going to ask that my OB if I can have sex at 35-36 weeks, and then do a membrane sweep 24-48 hours before the induction is scheduled if things haven't gotten moving by then... What other things can I do/try to induce labor naturally?
I am meeting with a MW next week to ask her some questions, and then I will check everything with my OB & Peri before I try something--- don't worry!! Sorry this is an unusual circumstance, but if you can let me know what worked for you that would be great!! If you think I am crazy for even THINKING about a natural induction, please tell me! ![]()
Re: 2nd timer- newbie question
Remember, too, that female orgasm is more productive in sex than semen - the amount of prostaglandins introduced from semen is minimal compared to the amount of oxytocin released during female orgasm.
You can start drinking red raspberry leaf tea any time now, and there are other herbs, etc, that you could try - though I'm not sure what they are, how they're used, or how effective they are. I know Evening Primrose Oil is something to research, as well as castor oil.
Good luck to you - I hope that you have the birth you desire.
