How long before you had sexy time again?

This probably sounds crazy, but when the nurse went over my discharge papers with me, she said, "we tell you 6 weeks of pelvic rest, so make sure that you at least give us 3."  So they say 6, but it's safe at 3?!  I really wish that I wasn't in such a rush to get out of there and I actually asked her if I was hearing her correctly.

    We haven't yet.  I feel like I'm all healed, but I'm waiting for clearance at my 6w appointment.  I don't wanna risk infection, and honestly I haven't been in the mood yet.  I'm too tired!

    I think it was around 9 weeks. But that was more due to the fact that we kept forgetting to buy condoms (since I'm not on any drug-based BC between Sam and hopefully our 2nd).

    Not a mom yet but my DAD of all people had this conversation with me.  He told me to make sure to tell DH that we had to wait until the doctor said it was ok plus take it slow once we started.  He said he's known couples in the past that just jump into it and end up with complications.  I'm assuming he means higher risk of infection and maybe tearing open stitches.  He also said that it took some of these people almost a year to get things back to "normal" if they rushed it in the beginning (which I've kind of heard by word of mouth otherwise, true or not).  I assured him that DH was patient and that at minimum we were waiting for the doc's ok and then playing it by ear.

    Never thought I'd have that conversation with my Dad of all people.  It was odd but he's just trying to protect his little girl.

    5 weeks I think? My midwife said it was ok a week after I stopped bleeding.

    I waited until after I stopped bleeding, maybe around 4 weeks? But my doctor gave me "permission" at the 6wk checkup. I had no tearing or sutures though.

    5 weeks.  I waited two weeks after the bleeding stopped.  And my PP appt was 5.5 weeks after the c-section and I got clearence then.  But she didn't actually  check me so I don't know how she knew.

    I'm planning to wait until at least after my f/u appt which is going to be at almost 8 weeks since my Dr is out of town.

    I'm fine waiting though. I like the idea of sex but I've had so much pain in that area that I'm really nervous. I want to make sure I'm 100% healed and I'm definitely not there yet.

    From what I understand, you're supposed to wait until the 6 week clearance but to each her own.

    We are waiting until my f/u appointment which is scheduled for 6 1/2 weeks, but then we will just play it by ear after that. DH's back is FINALLY feeling better so its actually an option now, but he said he is nervous after what he witnessed...so it could be a long time before those images are out of his head.

    Obviously, I can't contribute.  But I commend you all for wanting to have sexy time.  I have a feeling I won't want that for a VERY long time after giving birth.

    8 weeks for us.  I was cleared at my 6 week checkup, but Josh was OOT, so we had to wait.  I'm glad we waited though.  It still hurt 8 weeks out---I can't imagine doing it any earlier!

    My dr never mentioned sex at my appt. I guess I'd still be waiting. Sometimes some of these dates seem to be sort of arbitrary though... like the fact that my daughter had whole milk a week before her birthday... gasp. It also looks like 3/4 of us that didn't "wait" also had c-sections, therefore no tearing, ripping or cutting of the hoo ha happened Stick out tongue. If that were the case I would have been begging my Dr to tell me to wait longer.
