Will it be too crowded? Bad Idea? Which day is better Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday?

Thinking about doing a mini trip to San Diego to celebrate H's birthday + give A his first trip to the zoo. Thx

    We went to the San Diego Zoo on Thanksgiving Day two years ago. ?We got there first thing in the morning and it wasn't too crowded at all. ?We stayed for several hours. ?The crowd definitely starting picking up by the afternoon but I was pregnant and more than ready to be done walking by that point.
