My husband just commissioned into the Army, but he went through ROTC, so he didn't have to go through OCS. However, he said he thinks he'll be gone for OCS for about 12-15 weeks (he's not sure because he didn't have to do it), then he'll be branched (infantry, medical, transport, etc, etc) and have BOLC-B for an amount of time to be determined by his branch school. We found out where he would be stationed when he received his branch assignment and BOLC-B report date, but he (we) won't report there until he is completely finished with BOLC. So, it could be awhile before you actually PCS, anywhere. But, if he is assigned to a branch and school with a long training period, he may be able to bring you with him (flight school, for example).
My DH went through OCS 07/08 and he went to the board in August, OCS class in November, Graduated June 08, training etc for a year and we PCSed May 09 to our duty station here in Washington. Since his BOLC training was so long (and the wait was forever for the class) they wrote him PCS orders for it and we moved with him for that too. Typically family does not go with to BOLC training though unless its something really long like aviation.

This! My husband used to be an Army OCS instructor so if you have any other questions, I can probably answer them for you.

My DH was AF and did OTS. It took 6 months from the time he was accepted to being put in a class, 3 months of training, 1 year of his career field training and then we PCSed for the first time. It'll probably be a bit different for the army. But that was the general process for us. LOTS of moving the first couple of years.

How long did it take from the time he submitted his package to get his acceptance?
I've been curious about this too because my husband is AF AD and looking to go to OTS. He just took the officer qualifying test (passed), has 2 engineering degrees (B.S. and M.S.), and will be submitting his package for when the board meets next in February.
Re: Curious is anyone else has a husband getting ready to do OCS?
The Army - just waiting on his security clearance and then hopefully he'll go before the board on 8/20
