A friend of mine lost a healthy baby boy there less than two years ago due to hospital error, so I have nothing positive to say about it. I'm sure they have completely overhauled their department since the law suit etc but I still would not risk it. I am at Brigham and It has been great! Good Luck!

That's terrible for your friend. I'm so sorry that happened to her.
Do you know who her OB was? Or did she use the Midwives at Mt Auburn
group?
That is an awful, awful story, but I'll be honest -- I heard stories like that about just about every hospital in the area when I was looking for someplace to have my son. I worked with the midwives at Mt. Auburn and I can't say enough wonderful things about them. I'm now 8 weeks pg and I'm going back to them. I wound up with a c-section due to DS's intolerance of labor and the fact that I never progressed after several induction drug attempts, so I've also had experience with some of the other staff. The only people I didn't like were the OB on call (Dr. Corbain) -- TERRIBLE bedside manner -- and the pediatrician on call (Dr. Khoury from HV Watertown). The nurses were great, the LCs were pushy but helpful (in that they got me a free pump), L&D was comfortable, the food was decent, and mostly the midwives were just amazing. Go to a "Meet the Midwives" night to check them out; you'll also get a hospital tour https://www.mamah.org/meetthemidwives.html.

Just reading this post - how funny! There happened to be a meet the midwives this evening, so I went and I was very impressed. I'm going to call one of the offices tomorrow to setup a consultation. Thanks!
A good friend of mine delivered her son there with the midwives and had excellent care during her pregnancy and a very good delivery experience. Her after-care and some recovery issues weren't handled as well but overall she had a very good experience and would deliver there again.
I am going to deliver there as well, but I am still on the fence about whether to stay with my ObGyn (Amy McGaraghan) or go with the midwives.
I have heard that Beth Hardiman is wonderful in her bedside manner and care, but that her office runs INCREDIBLY behind all the time.

I secured a spot with Beth Hardiman early on. The office was very honest about the appointments constantly running late and often being canceled and rescheduled. If I want my husband to be present for some of my appointments, I can't really have that be the case. So after I went to "Meet the Midwives" I decided they were a better fit.
Beth Hardiman had been recommended to me, but when I heard about how she often runs late I opted to use the MOMA. I am getting my inseminations through them (though that service is called AICGB). I have been impressed by everything I have heard about them.
