Maternity jeans for short moms

I'm 5' and before I got pregnant I could only find jeans that fit me well in the juniors dept. at Kohl's. And even then a lot were too long. I've already spent the money at Motherhood to get 2 pairs there and ended up needing to get them altered. In all, it probably cost me close to $100 for 2 pairs of jeans to fit right. And I wouldn't normally have a problem wearing jeans more than once before washing them, but the Motherhood jeans just don't stay up on a second day.

I don't feel comfortable buying online, because of the length issue. Plus I'd rather just know that they look good on me before I spend my money.  So does anyone know somewhere that has maternity jeans for people as short as I am that I wouldn't need to alter? I've already looked in Old Navy, and even though online they say my local one has a maternity section, it just didn't exist. And Target jeans are always 6+ inches too long.

I don't really want to buy a decent pair of jeans, skip the altering and just cut them off. I can't stand frayed pants.

Sorry this ended up being so long

Re: Maternity jeans for short moms

  • Hi, this won't help you much but, I NEVER wear jeans during pregnancy. this is my first summer bump, so I always wear either dresses, shorts, or skirts. but my other two I bought elastic waist dress pants at NY&Company. they have a selection for shorter ppl. I've always had issues with maternity clothing mainly b/c they were ALWAYS too big!

  • Motherhood carries petite length pants and jeans and Kohls sells Motherhood brand jeans also.  I just got a pair of petite on clearance last weekend.  Good luck!

Are you buying the regular length or the short/petite length.  I'm 5' and have the petites from Motherhood and the "short" length from Old Navy neither of which required hemming.  Try that.

Everywhere I've looked doesn't have the short/petite. It's like Ohio is only for tall people.

  • i'm 5'2" and i say just suck it up and get them altered.  i always have all of my pants altered pre-pregnancy and pregnancy.  yes, it costs a little more, but i'd rather have a couple pairs of pants that fit perfectly than lots of pants that fit so/so.  my favorite jeans i bought for pregnancy are

     and

     https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6019&vid=1&pid=689826

the gap jeans i bought a regular length and they were the perfect length for heels  the citizens i had about 5 inches taken off, but they are by far worth the extra $.  hope that helps a little, sorry they aren't clicky links!

I really want to wear dresses all the time, but I can't stand the leg stubble and shaving is a battle. I'm afraid of cutting myself when my very large dog jumps at the bathroom door and scares the bajezzus out of me. And I fall. A lot. lol

Holy moly! Those are expensive! I think it's crazy to pay that much for jeans I won't wear for very long.

I appreciate everyone's help, though. :) Thank you! Now I have a mission for the weekend haha

  • I'm also 5ft tall.  I have a pair of Ann Taylor Loft maternity jeans in "short" and they are the perfect length.

  • I am 5'3" and the only pair of maternity jeans I bought were from Old Navy, I believe I bought the short length and they are just fine with flip flops or heeled shoes.  I did try them on the in store though and they are actually cute on.

I figure everyone is different but all my prego friends told me that once you get a bigger belly you will want the waist band that goes over your bump, I still roll that part down and it is a pain.  Next time around I am going with elastic banded jeans without a panel and spending the $$ to get something that makes me feel attractive!

  • I have this same problem. I just ended up rolling up my pants everyday. I didn't want to spend the money on alterations.

I'm 5'1'' and Old Navy short length fit me perfect so do Gap ankle length.  The motherhood short length are actually a bit short for me, I don't know who they're made for.

  • I had the same problem in the beginning of my pregnancy. How far along are you? I bought my maternity jeans from Motherhood when I was 20 weeks pregnant and didn't fit in them til I was 29 weeks. They are all small. I didn't buy jeans I bought capri's because I live in FL and it's the middle of summer ( so it's HOT ).

I'm 28 weeks. I bought what I have kind of early, too. But now I want to have more than 2 pairs to wear. I got some capri's from a friend, and they looked ridiculous on me lol Most of all the stores around me don't have maternity clothes in smaller sizes. When they do have the right length, everything else is too big! I have a master plan of digging through Kohl's clearance and the coupon I just got.

I hate spending so much money and then needing to spend more for them to fit right. I'd rather pay for clothes that fit right off. Plus I wouldn't have to wait a week to get my new clothes back. But if I'm not spending a ton, I don't mind the alterations
