Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When did you quit purees?

DS is the pickiest eater. He will eat various finger foods, but mostly fruit and carbs, no veggies or meat. The only way he'll eat those is to feed it puree. I decided just to be patient and wait it out. I know eventually he'll want to eat what mom and dad eat. I'm just wondering if anyone else went past 12 months with purees? So tired of specially fixing his food.

  • DS will only eat chicken nuggets and baby food from a jar. if you empty the jar into a bowl he wont eat it. dont feel bad you are not alone.

no fruits, veggies, meats, potatoes, NUTHIN. pedi said keep trying and re-visit the "situation" at the 15 month apt.

  • I quit making him purees around 9 months.
  • we do, and lots of them. J pretty much refuses all finger/table foods except bacon and french fries. We are really trying a lot more in the recent weeks and he is starting to put more in his mouth, but he wont chew anything or actually eat it. He is allergic to dairy, eggs and nuts, so that takes away lots of fun things to eat. He is cutting all 4 molars right now and his bottom two fang teeth are popping through, so maybe once he gets all his teeth he will eat better?? IDK He hasnt gained any weight since his 9m appt...

  • 7 or 8 months, I think? He hated them.
  • This makes me feel much better. We started with table food at 8 mo. and he did awesome, but sometime around 11 months he decided to be the pickiest eater ever. I constantly introduce new foods and reintroduce old ones. It's just so frustrating.

  • We quit at 11 months.  At that point it was a mix of purees and table food.
    31 months!
  • I still do at 18 months, but only sweet potatoes, squash, & carrots.  She won't eat yellow/orange veggies any other way, so I give them about every other day.  I don't think it's any different than giving applesauce or pudding, and could care less what others think.  It's working for us right now.
