how many cycles did it take you to get pregnant? I realize that everyone is different, but I would love to get an idea. Thanks!
We did read the "Complete lesbian guide to pregnancy" book, which was helpful to decide whether we wanted to go the at-home route or at the Dr's. But Dr's was more our style, so that's what we did.
Thank you so much, everyone! One more question, how many hours after your surge did you do the IUI? The clinic we are using said if we do the IUI there, to come in the following day, after 3. So if I test positive on say Monday morning at 7, they want me there at 3 or later on Tuesday. That just seems too late for me, but I could be wrong. Thanks again!
we went in 36 hours after she did the trigger shot (the last time she was late on the trigger--forgot to do it before leaving for work--so it was actually closer to 24 hours). 24-36 is pretty standard from what I've seen.
we fall on the unlucky end of the statistics...12 IUIs + 2 IVFs and no pregnancy.
6 of those IUIs were med free w/ a midwife and 6 were with clomid and trigger and full monitoring (blood work and ultrasounds). Of course the IVFs were a whole cocktail of meds and monitoring.
24-36 hours is the average, and we tried all different timings within that range.
We got lucky on the 7th IUI. All were done in the RE's office. The first 4 were with Clomid, the next 2 were unmedicated and the final one, we changed doctors and tried Femera.
2nd IUI with absolutely no drugs. C got a postitve OPT on Sunday and we already had an appointment scheduled for Monday morning 8 am..no time for meds.
We had a miscarriage on a pregnancy from IUI#2 with clomid, no trigger (missed). We made a good decision to use an RE since it turns out C is anovulatory on her own.
This month will hopefully by IUI#3 (this is cycle 6 of monitoring) and we've moved to injectibles, gonal-f.
Went in morning that pee stick confirmed ovulation...did IUI (and she checked on ultrasound to see)...then went back following morning for second insem. (did another ultrasound and she saw the eggs had definitely been released.)
Not sure if it mattered that we did two days in a row - but it obviously worked.
Re: For those that did an IUI...
Did you do it at home or at a clinic? We have the option of using either, and I'm not sure which is best.
I got pregnant on our 4th iui, all done in our re's office. Best of luck to you!
2 ICIs at home (no meds)
2 IUIs at RE's office (no meds)
3 IUIS at RE's office (with Clomid and trigger)
2 IUIs at RE's office (with Clomid, follistim (injectibles), and trigger)
9th one results in twin boys!
sorry, all at RE's office, first 4 only on clomid, last 3 on follistim/injectibles

It is said that the average is 6 tries.
We were very lucky and conceived on unmedicated IUI #1, which was performed at my midwifes practice.
