I had to cancel my son's floortime/speech therapist today b/c my daughter is sick. The therapist told me there would be a cancellation fee of $85---OUCH! Here session rate is $160.
I completely understand and expect to pay a cancelation fee since it was less that 24 hours, but this seems really high. Am I wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Therapist cancellation fee---is this normal?
I work privately (an SLP). I charge <30% of a sessions rate for a late cancellation...and I drive to people's homes. So typically I am charging that fee when I arrive at their home and no one is there.
That rate is high, but I don't think uncommon, sadly.
We get charged 1/2 of the regular session fee ($200). I understand, but I don't think it's all that fair. A few weeks ago my son was sick with 102 fever and they wouldn't have wanted him there and we still had to pay the $100 for both of the days that he missed.
I can see it for chronic cancellations or no shows but I would think that they would give a break to a parent paying OOP with a sick toddler.
