Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is 78 degrees too hot?

We swaddle using Aden and Anais for Target blankets, and have her in a thin nightgown, is this too much?

Our electric is already over 300 a month so I really don't think lowering it is an option. Should she be swaddled in just her diaper?

  • 78 is HOT for indoors...for us anyway.  I don't keep it higher than 72...and thats even in winter.

  • We keep DD's room at the recced 68-72 degrees and have a fan blowing. She is swaddled in a onesie and the Miracle Blanket. I"m probably freezing her, but I'm very paranoid about overheating.

  • We have DD's room around 78 (we'd go broke if we kept it cooler) but we have the ceiling fan going.

DD never liked being swaddled so usually she is in a thin gown or just a diaper.

  • It's over 80 here regularly. My guy sleeps in just a diaper. I would leave off the nightgown and see how your LO does.

  • DS sleeps in his diaper when it gets that hot in our house. We don't use A/C so he quite frequently sleeps naked.  I check his feet in the middle of the night to make sure it hasn't gotten too cold, which it never does.

  • thanks ladies, she's been waking up and not sleeping quite as well, so I think that might be why.

  • We keep the room at 72-73. DS sleeps in a onesie with cotton pants (no socks, no swaddle, no blankets).

I would remove either the swaddle or the nightgown or both if it were 78 degrees. Maybe just put her in a onesie or just her diaper? Or you could put a fan in the room/use a ceiling fan.

Also: Aden and Anais makes blankets for Target??? I must find these....

We're terrified to wean her from the swaddle! Not sure how to do that.

  • We can't afford to keep the a/c on all the time so oftentimes it's been 85 degrees.  It sucks, but it's just been a TERRIBLE summer.  Those nights I just put her in the onesie.  I stopped swaddling all of a sudden one night and she was fine
  • well since we live exactly 1.22 miles away from the sun.

We keep the house at 83 most of the time *gasp*

Lucy sleeps in a footed sleeper (cotton) but she hasn't been swaddled since 2 mo or so
