I saw in the post below that you see Dr. Maffett - she was recommended to me by my former GYN who no longer practices OB. Which Drs at that practice did you like vs didn't like? I'm a little concerned about how recently she started practicing, but DH feels like that means she'll be more up-to-date on recent findings, etc. I would love to hear more about her and what you think of the practice as a whole? Does she deliver at both Riverside or Dublin Methodist? I assume that if you deliver in the middle of the night you get whichever Dr is on call? There's a fairly good chance I'll need a C-section, although I'd prefer a vaginal birth, so that matters to me too.
Anyway, any insight you can offer would be much appreciated! Thanks!!!
Re: Andjen***
Loved loved loved Dr. Maffett! She went on Maternity leave a few weeks before I gave birth so I had to see others in the practice. I did not like Cook at all. I felt like she didn't listen to me and the appointments were very rushes. Dr. Maffett listens and gives you all the time you need. She makes sure to answer any of your questions. I did not like Dr. Krantz either.he's the one that decided at my last appt to send me to the hospital to be induced and then when I got there and got all hooked up he came in and told me I could go home if I wanted. I also loved Dr. Harmon. I was in labor for 22hrs. and at the end he gave me 3 more hrs for LO to drop and then told me that I would need a c-section since the fluid was getting low. He let me go as long as I could. I really didn't want one but he really put me at ease. He did an awesome job on it also. He fished around for the reason for LO not dropping and I had a great surgery and recovery. My scar looks awesome and you can barely see it.
I'm pretty sure she delivers at both places. I really liked Riverside. Dublin is so small it doesn't seem like a hospital at all.
Out of their offices I preferred to go to their Westerville office located on the corner of Africa and Polaris Pkwy. The waiting room was bigger and the staff was more friendly in my opinion. Plus there is a Tim Hortons in the lobby for afterwards.
As for appointments I went in the early morning and there was very rarely a wait. I had a couple of appts in the afternoon and the waiting room was packed those times. The ultrasound tech was awesome. They only do ultrasounds in the Westerville office. She always took her time to look at the baby and was always willing to answer any questions I had and explained the different parts of the baby.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Dr. Maffett also recommended pediatricians and I fell in love with Rainbow Pediatrics.
Thank you! Barring other circumstances, do they try to ensure that your Dr. delivers your baby? Or if you go into labor in the middle of the night, do you get who you get?
We're actually moving to Columbus in December, when I'll be 6 months pregnant, so I feel ultra concerned with picking the right Dr. because if I don't like them I'm worried it will be harder to find someone I like, so I appreciate all the info.
As far as I know you'll get your normal doctor. But I'm not 100% I would call and ask. Dr. Maffett went on Maternity leave when I went to the hospital and then Dr. Cook was on vacation that week also. Dr. Krantz was in the hospital in the morning on Tuesday and the rest of the time I had Dr. Harmon.
If you go in the middle of the night then you might just get whoever is on call. If you are a planned induction or c-section then you might get your Dr.
