1st Trimester

Non-Stop M/S I need some advice

his is my first P/G and I cannot keep anything down, I mean anything. No Water, Crackers, Soda, Ginger anything, vitamins. I'm afraid that I will get dehydrated. I haven't seen my Dr for the first visit yet, that will be this Thursday but I don't think I can wait that long to get something to make me feel better. On my days off from work all I do is sleep because if I wake up, I get sick. At this time in the day, there is nothing in my tummy for me to get up so I dry heave. Any Advice? Can the Dr prescribe me anything? The DH took the $$ I had left in my purse for Gas and worst of all for Cigarettes so all I have is my FSA card to get a 'script.

  • Your dr. can prescribe you something... but I would suggest getting sea-bands.  It seems like a silly concept, but they seriously worked for me.  I had terrible m/s from weeks 6-15ish, and this was the only thing that helped.

    Good luck!

  • yes, call your doctors office and get them to get you a Zofran script.  This helped me a little.  You just dont want to get dehydrated.

  • I was like that with my first pregnancy, and Zofran helped me keep food down.  They're expensive little pills, but they work well.  Give your OB a call.

  • just a heads up, my ob wouldn't prescribe anything w/o seeing me first. good luck!
  • You can totally get something to help.  This was me last week!  I was even through up zofran (anti-nausea pill).  Now I'm on Fengren (sp) suppositiries twice a day and they are fantastic!!!!  I take one as soon as I get up and another one around 4pm.  I have a little nausa here and there but nothing to bad.  How long have you been vomiting?  Make sure you stay hydrated, even if it means going to the ER for fluids.

    I hope you feel better!

  • I've been puking everyday, probably 10+ times a day no matter what time..unless I have a day off, then I sleep all day and only get sick around 5 times per day. I have been vomiting since week 5, so a solid 2 weeks now...gosh I can't wait for the M/S to be over!!!! I just want to feel better already!
  • I'm sorry you're going through this.

Have you tried B-6 and Unisom? I know that works for a lot of people.

The severity of your m/s is definitely concerning...it's important to stay hydrated. Definitely call your doc's office and ask to speak to someone. If you haven't drank liquids in a few days, they'll probably recommend you go to the ER for fluids. But someone with medical experience will know better.

I'm sorry you're so sick! Sea Bands didn't do squat for me, but Zofran is helping. Feel better soon.

  • Zofran is my miracle medicine.  I started about 2 weeks ago.  I was horribly sick too, just dry heaving all day everyday b/c I couldn't eat anything to throw up.

I still feel nauseas a lot, but at least I'm not throwing everything up. :)

  • This whole post is so scary to me!  I'm so sorry you're going through this.  Definitely don't wait until Thursday to call your doctor.  You are probably already dehydrated.  What happens if you take the teeniest bit of a sip of water?  I remember when my son was dehydrated the doctor told me to give him tiny, but frequent sips of water.  I hope you start feeling better soon!

I'd call my doctor first thing tomorrow and make sure to let them know how bad it is getting.  I had Hyperemesis with my first pregnancy and it was awful.  The best thing you can do is get fluids and meds (zofran, phenergan, unisom/b6) asap.

Then, if you're able try to eat something with protein/protein powder every 1-2 hours.  That will help keep your levels from getting out of whack.  Try jello or popsicles made with gatorade instead of water and you will probably need to stop taking your regular prenatals.  (I even had someone suggest once to suck on a goldfish cracker because eventually you are slowly eating it.)  I hope you're feeling better soon.  It is so miserable in a way you just can't describe, but try to remember when you can that it WILL end and you will have a this wonderful little life to show for it.

Expecting our 3rd little girl this New Year's!

  • CALL YOUR DR!  I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad- I was there a few weeks ago and dr put me on zofran and phenergran.  I feel much better, can eat again and am no longer confined to my bed.  You don't have to feel this way- call right away and get some help.  GL!
