At your first appt, how far along were you? What tests were done? Did you get an u/s?

My first appt is tomorrow at 4 wk, 6 days. I don't think they'll be able to see anything but I had a loss in Jan. so they're seeing me early this time.

What should I expect? With DS, we weren't seen until 8 weeks, so we got to see his little heartbeat, etc...

They did an internal ultrasound and you can see just the sack (you can google 5 week ultrasound photos to see some examples). They also took a lot of blood work, gave me lots of samples and pamphlets, and some information on NT scans and various genetic testing.

You won't see much if they do an ultrasound. I had an ultrasound at a few days shy of six weeks and all they could see a yolk sack and not much else. They brought me back at 7 1/2 wks for another ultrasound and then we saw LO and the h/b.

I'm guessing they'll do a urine test and talk to you about what you might expect over the next few weeks, probably a blood test to check your hormone levels like progesterone etc.

I had the same as the 1st response and my next appointment is supposed to be at the very end of 7weeks, just about 8.

my RE got me in right away at 4w6d also. She didn't expect to see much of anything on the u/s. Hoping to maybe see the start of a spot of fluid collecting. That's exactly what we saw.

I returned at 6w even, and saw a yolk sac and start of the h/b

returned again at 6w6d and saw a better h/b and a much bigger spot that is the baby

and at 7w2d things were already hugely different. Much bigger.

These posts are making me feel much better about my recent u/s at 5wk 5 day. All we saw was the sac and not much of anything else. So, the doctor is having me come back in 2 weeks. I really hope there is something there when we go back!!! Good luck you ladies.

For my last pregnancy, I saw them at 6.5 weeks. I met with the NP for weight, blood pressure, blood work, and a pelvic exam. No u/s. Counseling on nutrition, exercise etc.

Thanks girls! I don't know if I'll get an u/s tomorrow, but I'll definitely post a follow up to let you know how it went.

My midwife was great during my first pregnancy, not there during my loss (dr had to perform surgery and so he did follow ups), and I'm hoping for an uneventful pg this time with her again.

I had an appointment last week, they did a pap, pelvic exam and blood work. I go back Friday for an u/s. I think my Doctor wanted to wait until after the 6w mark so he didn't worry me if we didn't see anything. I also had a loss in January, so my doctor is really sympathetic to my anxiety about this pregnancy.
