M finally had physical therapy!

She LOVED it.  She started to cry when we left.  The lady was so great with her.  It usually takes M awhile to warm up to strangers but she wasn't shy at all!  They did all kinds of fun things and I am so glad she will look forward to going.

It's kinda hard to explain, but basically we need to retrain her brain to control her muscles.  She is right on track physically, but she has a hard time with balance and muscle control.  Her brain is overworking to make up for the lack of balance.  She over corrects, then over corrects again and then maybe she will get it right... and sometimes not, which leads to falling.  It isn't going to be an easy thing to fix, and could take a long time.  There is a possibility that she may always have this issue.  She said we will know in about 6 months if her brain can/will relearn.

She pointed out things that I have never noticed.  When she sits flat on her butt she flexes her right leg to kinda balance herself.  She doesn't keep the knee flat on the ground.  This can lead to stiffness.  Right now she has full range though.  She also said that her grasp with her right hand is about equivelant to an 18 month old.  (After surgery she didn't move her right arm and leg at all, so this is not abnormal.)

I can go on and on, but I'm sure you don't care. Lol

Count your blessings people!  We are SURE glad she is where she is instead of going through rounds of chemo. Ugh.
