Best cheap place for a weekend get away?

So I know Dan really wants to go away for the weekend sans kiddos, so I'm thinking I may try to plan something for his birthday.

Anyhow, I need recs for a super cheap weekend get away place, a lavish trip is just not in the budget. 

Any ideas?

    Try a place that has a lot of Priceline (bidding) options. Our hotel costs have been cut by more than half since discovering Priceline.

    They help take a lot of the guesswork out of bidding. We usually use it for affordable trips to Monterey.

    Let me think about this as me and my DH had the same conv last night since our 6yr anniversary is next month. Maybe we could do a double date out soon.

    Amador County east of Sac is pretty affordable, and awesome, esp if you like (free) wine tasting!

    What about Lake Tahoe Area? Always seems more affordable to me than say SF.

    What about a local hotel in your area? Just find a nice hotel, and you and your hunny shack up for the weekend. Together. THe best times Frank and I have had, is when we just hang out and watch movies together, and 2 times we have just gotten a hotel locally. We dont have to clean up anything, and we order in from our fav eat out spots.

    We are staying in the russian river in a few weeks. I found the house rental extremly affordable. Not sure about hotels in the area.

    When are you thinking of?  We, mom, kiddo's and maybe a friend from out of the country, are going to a funeral in Windsor the weekend of the 28th and I've been dreading having the kids in a hotel.  Maybe I could get my mom to do a house swap with you guys if you're interested?   She's in the process of moving so she may be resistent because everything might not be in order but I'm pretty sure you guys wouldn't be all uptight about some boxes laying around.  She's just north of Fort Bragg, 1/4 mile from the beach.  You can see the ocean when you're standing in front of the house and hear it at night even with the windows closed.
