Open Letter to my MIL

Dear MIL,

I do not want to hear about your birthing experience.  Please don't tell me how much your labor with DH's brother hurt and how your labor with DH felt like light taps on the hand.  Please don't demonstrate these light taps on MY hand.  You've already told me the stories and demonstrated the labor to me on numerous occasions.  Just stop.  I honestly appreciate that you wish me an easy labor, but I am in denial, don't want to think about it and hopefully have 3 more months before I have to.

Thank you,

Mrsf123

Re: Open Letter to my MIL

  • LOL When DH and I were dating (I think I was like 17) my future MIL showed me pictures of her C-section w/DH. She kept them in an album with all the other family photos in her livingroom cabinet. Uh yeah I don't want to see that but thanks anyways

  • I so want to know about DH's birth.  MIL isn't living, and FIL is such a loser that he can't recal yesterday let alone 30something years ago.  Grrr...  just makes me mad at FIL.  He's such a ass.  Anyways, yea, one time of hearing the story would be enough, then she needs to leave it alone.

So true! I've gotten to hear about how DH was over 10lbs too many times. Stop trying to scare me, and stop telling me about your vagina. It makes me uncomfortable.
  • I think this is the one think my MIL HASN'T told me about. I'm thankful.

Yes, exactly!  I realize that you are a woman. I recognize that you must therefore have a vagina, but really, I don't want to think about it.

  • Haha. My  MIL's labor gets shorter and easier every time I talk to her. I also get the "I don't get what the big deal is, women have been doing it for thousands of years". Oh, and my personal favorite is how little weight she gained all the time. The number has gone down from 35 lbs to 17 lbs total. What a peach. :)

I am the same way. I wanted to know how long she was in labor with DH, how much he weighed, etc. but I'm not shy and I don't mind talking about blood, poop, babies being born, etc. lol

  • My MIL is a pain in the butt too!! Her labors, of course, were the worst and most painful... She is the best because she did it naturally.

She can't get over the fact I want to be drugged up... I'm getting sick of everyone's "war stories." Like nothing would ever compare to their labor..
