Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What do you do while LO naps?

I try to get the dishes done and some laundry, sometimes will lay down for a quick nap, but most times I feel like I need to just stay next to him and wait for him to wake up to eat. I feel like I hardly get anything accomplished, but I know most of it is that I was extremely active before LO arrived and now feel like I'm succomed to my couch. I need some ideas of what to do to be active during the day, both with and without my LO.

Re: What do you do while LO naps?

  • bump, pump, nap, do things around the house ...although the first month I usually either slept or watched tv

  • I shower, eat, and tidy up the house. Sometimes I plan to run a quick errand during nap time so I know I have a better chance of her not being fussy while we are out and about.
  • Today i've made & eaten lunch, done a load of laundry, put away DS#1 & 2's clean laundry, folded our clean laundry for DH to carry upstairs for me, cleaned up the LR, made a few phone calls for dr.'s appts and such for DC, surfed the net, and caught up on some crappy daytime tv. I am about to wake DS#2 up to nurse since it's been about 2.5 hours from his last feeding.

I'm sure I'll pay for this later, but my to-do list was a mile long this morning.  With DS#1 I would have just relaxed or napped with him.

  • Until she was 6 weeks old I used her nap time to rest or get little things around the house done (not to mention there were so many visitors).

Once I got to 6 weeks and really felt better I try to use her nap times to workout, shower, do my hair & makeup, get things ready for dinner.  I don't need to rest as much now because she only gets up once during the night to eat.  When she was getting up 3 times a night I was exhausted during the day.

  • I tidy up our bedroom, which has now turned into her nursery, wash her bottles or pump parts, diaper/wipes refill, feed myself, shower, let the dog out, pay bills, do her laundry... etc. I really need to nap along w/ her though because the night shift is brutal, and DD is still waking up every hour to nurse, and I feel like crap.

  • Today I cleaned both bathrooms, mopped the floors, took the dishes out of the dishwasher, vacuumed the house and ate lunch. Now I need her to take another nap cause I'm exhausted!

  • Clean, pay bills, laundry, prep for dinner (e.g. chop vegetables), go through the random boxes of crap I've been meaning to organize for years, do the 30DS, take a shower, etc. The only time I watch TV is when I am nursing.
