Natural Birth Due Date Check-In

Morning ladies!  Here's your weekly due date check-in.   If information is missing or inaccurate for you, post with it below (I just moved it to a spreadsheet because the messiness was driving me crazy - I may have mis-transposed your info, so please check).  If you'd like to be added, post below with your EDD, place of birth, method and team (green, blue or pink). And even if neither of the above apply to you, post with your answer to the QOTW.  Let's get to know each other better!

Congrats to:

sweettalkin417, who delivered Ivy Mae on July 22!

Ready2006, who gave birth to her son, AJ on August 2!

gtown_bride, whose son, Michael Cyrus, was born August 3!

If I missed your birth story, I apologize.  Please post and draw my attention to it!  Thanks!

QOTW: What is the first thing you hope/plan to eat after your baby is born?

Re: Natural Birth Due Date Check-In

  • I figured since we're always asking each other the heavy natural-birth questions on this board, that I could get a little frivolous :)

Last time, I told DH I would want a Diet Coke and a spicy tuna roll, stat.  As it turned out, I was so nauseated during labor that I didn't feel like eating until several hours later.  And then it was a couple weeks before I felt like I could stomach sushi :(  I had some homemade pizza late that night, and it was awesome.  I'm thinking maybe I'll have that on hand again - it was so good!

  • I have no idea what I want to eat first. It will probably depend on how I feel that day.

  • i'm supposed to eat something high in protein and complex carbs. i'll probably have a smoothie.

after my first birth, i inhaled a plate of cold french fries (we were in the hospital and that's all that was in the room when i woke up after the surgery).

btw - we are having a hypnobirthing birth. would you add to my line? thanks!

  • I love our list - it keeps growing and growing!

QOTW: I am looking forward to a frape, or some form of heavy iced coffee loaded with choc., sugar, and whipped cream.  Oh - and a roast beef sandwich.  Why?  Just 'cause that's what I'm in the mood for.  ;)

  • QOTW: i have no idea what I ate after DD.  whatever the hospital had.  I think it would be fun to have a glass of champagne, but I'm one of those moms that doesn't drink when BFing (even though I know you can still have a glass here and there).
  • QOTW: What is the first thing you hope/plan to eat after your baby is born?

Well - I'd love a glass of red wine.  But, not sure that will happen in the hospital. ;)  I have no idea actually - I'm sure it will be something fattening and savory.  But it will probably all depend on how I'm feeling.

  • I'm definitely planning on a small glass of champagne to celebrate!  As far as eating goes, I'm not so sure.  Our birth center brings in meals from local restaurants (depending on the time) so I'm sure I'll go for something from one of them.  Probably meat and potatoes.  I'm counting on being hungry!

  • I think my info was transposed as I was due July 28 with a boy and am having a Hypnobirthing home birth (hopefully!).

    QOTW:

I have my favorite salad ready to go: romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, penne pasta, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chicken with Good Seasons Italian Dressing!  We also have a birth cake for the baby (carrot cake I made and froze, my mom will frost with cream cheese frosting) and sparkling cider.

etessler had her baby too (on 8/4):

  • QOTW: I haven't really thought about what I might want after the birth. I haven't really given anything up besides wine and Mountain Dew...so maybe a Mountain Dew with whatever I eat. :)

  • Since I have GD, I can't wait to eat something with a ton of carbs.  Right now some chocolate cake sounds really good.

  • I'm not really thinking about the food.  DH will make something yummy, but I wasn't really in the mood to eat last time, although I needed it.  I'm kind of assuming that it will be breakfast, since everyone seems to think she'll come at night again.  I'm kind of hoping for an afternoon birth, eat dinner, and go to bed!

In other news, I've got a reflexology appt. tomorrow afternoon and I'm making eggplant curry for dinner.  Let's see if that helps things along a little :)

  • QOTW: What is the first thing you hope/plan to eat after your baby is born?

When we get home from the birthing center we're going to celebrate with a glass of champagne. After that I have no idea. Subway sounds good, but so does breakfast of some sort---waffles or pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit...

I wish labor would hurry up so I could go for it! :)

  • This content has been removed.
  • I have no idea what I will want - I have heard quiche as a celebratory meal, we will probably also have pasta on hand as that is a feel-good food for me.  Maybe a glass of milk :)

My info disappeared I think. I'm due 10/4, team green, planning a Bradley homebirth.

  • QOTW: I have no idea but last time I had a spicy chicken sandwhich from wendy's and it was great. I will have Dh go pick up something on the way home from the birthing center or have someone reheat a frozen meal.

  • Sushi!  I cannot wait to get my hands on some rolls!  I can't imagine not being in the mood for it, but it might not be my first meal since someone would have to bring it to us at the birth center (don't want to make DH go out and get it) and I don't know if anyone will be visiting us in the 12 hours that we are there.  But if they are, I'll tell them to pick some up!

  • QOTW: What is the first thing you hope/plan to eat after your baby is born?

I am thinking that DH will have Mimosa's on hand to celebrate at the Birth Center! Other than that I don't know, I will have to put some thought into that and come up with something really yummy :)

  • Can you add me?  Due Sept 8th, Boy, Homebirth
  • My hospital offers a "celebratory gourmet dinner" that my husband would really like to have with me and our new baby. That's probably the only special thing I will have right away. I'll be eating hospital food and whatever I can convince my family and friends to smuggle in for me.

  • The first thing will probably be whatever the hospital is serving - last time our family brought us take out for lunch the day DS was born & I had the most delicious chef salad ever - I might go for another one of those.

  • With DS I had chicken express, but by the time I ate it it was cold!:( This time around I want to bring a home made veggie pizza to the birth center and have them pop it in the oven once I start pushing so It's nice and hot when I'm ready to eat it. I also want to bring a chocolate birthday cake!

  •

The first thing I put to my lips will probably be a glass of red wine to celebrate the birth. After that, I'm having on-hand a couple of choices. I make a killer vegetarian meatloaf, loaded with protein and iron, but it's really heavy food (after DD and DS I couldn't stand the thought of a lot of food), so I'm also going to have snack foods and sushi.

We already have plans for apples, grapes, several different cheeses and crackers, orange juice, chocolates, and other simple, light snack foods for everyone to be eating while I'm laboring, as well as a small treat bag for Josh filled with activities so he won't get bored and start questioning me when his brother is going to get here.

  • I haven't even thought about what I want to eat right after baby is born. I know we'll have snacks packed, and I know there's a bottle of prosecco chilling in our fridge now for our first night home, but I haven't actually thought about food.

    Mother's Day, 2011
  • i had a gigantic, bleeding rare New York steak after K was born and it was delicious.  (I eat super rare steaks all through pregnancy, BTW.)  And probably a nice glass of red wine.
  • I have so far to go that food after labor isn't even on my mind.

After DD#2, I was brought some leftover nachos from lunch... but the best thing, the best thing in the whole world that they brought me was a nice, big, icy cold, glass of ORANGE JUICE!  ;)

  • QOTW: What is the first thing you hope/plan to eat after your baby is born?

This is my first time birthing so I am not sure if I will feel like eating immediately after or not.

However I am dying to have a Corona with salt and lime ... so, I have my six pack in the fridge. I also have a freezer full of meals that I have made over the past 3 weeks, I am sure I will find something to nicely compliment my corona!! :))

  • I'm 26, almost 27 weeks now and nesting like CRAZY.  So far, I've sold our bar stools and bought a table and chairs, am selling our coffee table to get an oversized ottoman with internal storage (and can be used for seating), trying to sell an easy chair, have cleaned/straightened/organized as much as I can in our house, and we're going to Ikea this weekend to buy some shelving for the living room for better storage options for both kid and adult "stuff".  Oh, and when my parents were here, my stepdad put up track lighting in the main level of our house. :)

QOTW: When I delivered DD, they tried to serve me chicken nuggets, mushy broccoli, and white bread.  Gross.  I hope whatever I eat this time is nutritious, well cooked, and homemade.  :)

  • Lol, how did I miss this? Prego brain...

Due Sept 13 - birthing center - not using a specific technique, going to natural childbirth classes though and they cover lots of different relaxation techniques - team pink!

  • Chipotle!  That is my standard post-long run meal, I fully expect to want the same thing after labor.  DH knows full well he will be going on a Chipotle run soon after the birth :)
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I am due April 4th and we are planning to do a water birth with the midwives.  I don't know what the other things mean on there, we are team green.  Still too early to tell :(

I don't know yet what we will have to eat, just something homemade.

  • Aug 19th - Team Pink - Bradley.

I'd LOVE some sushi!!!!  And, a nice bottle of wine (I've been collecting lots since Christmas!)
