Capital Women's Care?

Does anyone here know anything about them?  I got pregnant through Shady Grove Fertility (IVF) and had no interest in going back to my old doctor before them, however SG suggested finishing first tri with my old doctor (who no longer delivers) and then moving on.  The old doctor gave me recommendation of a group practice taht would deliver at St Joe's called Capital Women's Care.  Never heard of them and am having a little trouble finding reviews on the internet..

Would love to hear your opinions

Re: Capital Women's Care?

  • I used them for both of my babies.

They have 5 doctors- 4 women and a male. One of the females (Dr. Buescher) has a pretty awful bedside manner. She's pretty distant. Honestly though? I think she is a wonderful doctor. If you can look past the fact that she isn't going to coddle you she is fantastic and very professional. She delivered my first via c-section after 22 hours of labor. The c/s went very smoothly and I healed up very nicely.

Dr. Zern delivered my 2nd via c/s. I was going to try a VBAC and the whole practice was very encouraging about it. At my 38 week appointment I saw Dr. Duke and she recommended the c/s because of size/positioning. I had an amazing experience with Dr. Zern.

The practice is pretty busy and at times I felt rushed during my appointments. They have a nurse midwife as well who does not deliver but I loved having appointments with her.

  • I personally go to Women's Health which is right down the street from Captial Women's. I also work at St. Joe's and 11 girls are pregnant right now on my floor alone. I know 3 of them use Capital Women's and they absolutely love it. I go and see Dr. Taber at Women's Health and I LOVE HER!!! I just wish she could be my primary doctor too! But Dr. Taber has been absolutely great and I'm going to miss her if she ever stops practicing...she's very sweet, knowledgeable, answers all questions and she doesn't sugar coat anything...she tells you just how it is...but after every appointment she gives me a hug and tells me how proud she is of me and my pregnancy progression. I would check them out too!
  • I'm seeing the Drs at the Towson office right now for my pregnancy. I have been very happy with my experience. Also they came highly recommended to me by my friend who is a L&D nurse at St. Joe's
  • I'm due towards the end of September and I go to Capital Women's Care at St. Joe's. They are amazing, I actually started going there a few months before i got pregnant and had Dr Zern, who has an amazing bedside manner. We had been trying to get pregnant for 9 months and she really put my mind at ease about everything and even did some preliminary tests for us. We ended up getting pregnant a month and half later and I have now seen all of the other doctors at the practice. I haven't had a problem with any of them, all have been great and the office staff is very friendly. I have recommended a co-worker of mine and my husband's co-worker's wife and they both love the practice.

My only complaint is the wait time. Tthey are transfering all of the patient information to their electronic database, so it can take a while if you are there for an afternoon appt.

  • I used to go to them for GYN but they stopped taking my insurance.  I stuck with Facciolo and LOVED her.  I will now deliver in Annapolis since I moved anyway.

I was always very happy with Capital...they used to be Charm City OB/GYN.

  • I've been going to Capital Women's Care for the past 14yrs, since I was a teenager.  Dr Facciolo is my doctor there and Dr Duke delivered my first baby last year.  They all are very nice doctors.  The wait times suck sometimes, but I have never ever felt rushed.  I started going there back when they were Charm City OB/GYN, because they were recommended to my mom by her retiring GYN and I wanted an all women practice, but even now with Dr Guidice, (he is the male doctor), I feel very comfortable.  I would highly recommend the practice and St Joseph Medical Center as well!  My entire birthing experience with the hospital was wonderful!!!
  • Awesome!  Thanks for all the help... I called up my doctor at Shady Grove who highly recommended them as well and told me that one of the Shady Grove doctor's has a wife who is doctor there (I can't remember her name.. different last name than the SG Doctor).. .. I have my first appt at their St. Joe's office in September.  Thanks!

THis is the same practice I use. Dr. Davis was supposed to deliver Kira but she came out before her induction and Dr.Richards delivered her.
