If your LO loves their bouncy seat or swing

was this something that happened later on?  Right now if I put my son in his bouncy seat he screams and if I put him in his swing later on in the day he screams as well.  It's almost like around noon he decides he's ready to be held for the rest of the day.

Re: If your LO loves their bouncy seat or swing

  • kylie hated her bouncer at first. she was def too young for it til about a month or so. but she has loved her swing since day 1. however, kylie also loved being held at first. i think 90% of babys love being held at first more than anything. they grow into things. just keep trying. everyday its something new with kylie. she used to hate her playmat. then at like2months she would lay in there for hours! same with the bouncer!

  • DS didn't like his swing until he was 7 weeks old.  We didn't get a bouncy seat until 6 weeks, but he liked it then.  Not sure if he would've liked it earlier though.  He just liked being held.  Before 6-7 weeks he would sit in his swing without it moving for about 5 minutes and then start to cry.  If it was swinging he cried right away.  Now he will swing in it for 20 minutes or so and happily watch the mobile and other things in his view.
  • Harper loved both from the get-go... but I think it was because they put him to sleep.  He still sleeps in his swing at night.  He is 6 almost 7 weeks now and is just getting to where he likes being in them while awake, especially his bouncy seat.  He likes it because it vibrates... I think!

  • mine always loved his. I've read somewhere that sometimes a car seat or a bouncy chair can put your LO in uncomfortable position, especially after eating
  • I'm curious about others' responses bc DD doesn't like her bouncy seat much either. She will sit in it for about 15 min before she starts to cry.

We havent even put the swing together yet...

  • Charlotte is either off or on with her swing. Sometimes she loves it. Sometimes she hates it. I actually put her in it a little bit ago so I could finally eat some lunch, and she's now sleeping. This is the first time it's actually put her to sleep.

  • DD started to like her swing when she was about 4 weeks old. She just started to like her bouncy/vibrating chair in the last two weeks, but will only sit in it for about 20 minutes before she starts to get fussy.
  • LO still doesn't care for the swing much, the bouncer however, I had him in it after by the 2nd week.  I put him in it once he was asleep and had been for awhile, so that he first got used to waking up in it. I also took the toy bar off.

once he got used to waking up in it, I then put him in it while he was awake.  It didn't take long for him to get used to it.

  • McKayla loved her bouncer from day one but her swing she only likes sometimes depending on her mood that day. Right now she is in the hold me all the time mommy stage so neither one are her favorite place to be.
  • Mine loves both of hers.  We started putting her in them when she was a few days old.
  • DD loved her bouncer from day one.  Usually we don't even turn the vibrations on, she enjoys just sitting up and looking around, often when we're at the dinner table with her in between us.  I just started using the swing, if she is already calm when I put her in it, it relaxes her even more.  If she's fussing, it doesn't do any good.
  • My son's bouncy seat IS his swing (it detaches from the swing aparatus) and he has loved both since day 1.  We really lucked out!!  He will fall asleep in it, but he's also perfectly content in it if he's awake, he'll just sit and watch the mobile.
  • She has liked her swing from day 1.  Hates the bouncy seat but loves when a person bounces her in their arms or on their knee.  And she still has days where around 2pm she just wants to be held, whether awake or asleep.

  • DS hated both at first, he only wanted to be held. If we even took him near the swing and acted like we were going to put him in it, he would scream. We could get him to sit in the bouncer but only if it was on vibrate and only only for 10 minutes or so. Now, he loves the swing and frequently falls asleep in it. He also likes the bouncer more now that he can focus on the hanging toys in front of him. I think the change happened around 5 weeks or so.
