I don't know if any of yall felt this way, but I've been feeling poor Sprocket is just an afterthought, particularly to our families, especially because she's "another" girl.
I know people show their love and excitement in ways other than buying presents, but I was still pretty bummed. I didn't expect another shower but I've gotten a grand total of two congratulations card. I just didn't want her to look back at pictures and think everyone loved her sister more because she was the first one, you know?
Anyway, Josh told me this weekend his work is actually throwing us a shower on Wednesday! I was totally floored as they did a group gift for Marion, but this is an actual shower with cake and a conference room and I'm invited and everything!
I know it's totally ridiculous to be so excited about it, but I just cried when he told me (that, and the pressure of having to find a shower dress in three days.) At least this way her baby book / the blog will have some shower pictures and a cake picture and she'll feel loved by someone other than her mom and dad
Re: Moms of 2+ - I'm so excited
that's great! when SIL was pregnant with boy #2, i thought it was terrible that wasn't going to get any little get together or anything, we ended up having a dinner in his honor and my mil made a cake so he got a little bit of a party.
I know how you feel. Two years later I still feel guilty that Gabriel didn't get a shower or Sip n See. Poor kid got the shaft because I didn't want more people after having to live with my IL's.
That is great that she is going to be honored.
Totally get where you're coming from. Julia's baby book is completely empty in the whole baby shower section and it is a bit sad.
So CONGRATS on the baby shower for #2!
6-yr-old Elena and 4-yr-old Julia.

Aw, that's super sweet of them. A girlfriend threw me a little luncheon for #2 and that was a real treat.
BUT by the time #2 is old enough to really take the picture thing to heart, she'll also be old enough to explain that back in the day, showers were really only thrown for #1 and it has nothing to do with how much anyone loves her. this kind of drama won't be coming down the pike for you for several years.
