Anyone else not a fan of shower games?

I just don't enjoy them.  =/

My friends are having a shower for me on Saturday and one of my friends who is throwing it just e-mailed my sister to ask her to run one of the games.  My sister hate them more than I do and about had a heart attack.  LOL!  She's not telling them not to do them, though.  Oh boy...it better not be any of the guess the candy in the diaper crap (literally).  I'll just grin and bear it :)

  • That's what went down at my family shower- it was WONDERFUL!  But both my mom and MIL aren't shower game fans.  My bridal shower was also game-free.  I thought I was out of the woods! =/

  • Depends on the games. Some take way too long. But some are fun. The shower my mom is throwing for me will not have games. But my MIL is throwing a shower for me and there will be games.
  • Def not a fan of the shower games. Happily, my bff who's hosting isn't either so I suspect it'll just be us all hanging out and eating our heads off! That, to me, is entertainment.

Apparently some hosts have a blindfolded game where everyone tastes baby food and guesses what kind of food it once was. Talk about a short trip to the vomitorium. Ugh!

  • Yep and the only one I KNOW is being played at mine is the candy in diaper crap.

     Sigh.

  • I don't normally like them, but my mom just threw me a shower on Saturday and I thought the ones she did were pretty good.

    1. She passed plain bibs out to everyone with fabric markers and everyone drew or wrote something.  Then I had to pick the one I liked the best, and the winner got a prize.  It's practical, too, because now we have a bunch of personalized bibs.  Smile

    2. Shower gift bingo.  Great idea because it kept everyone interested while I opened gifts.

  • They had a couple of really cute games at my shower, one of them involved racing to pair up a huge pile of baby socks and another was a guessing game on the price of a basket of baby items (shampoo, diapers, etc).

As long as none of the games involved guessing how wide around I am, I was totally fine with them.

  • We didn't play any games at my shower on saturday per my request.
  • the only game we did at mine was the baby word jumble. We just put one at each place setting and if people wanted to do it then they could. But im not a big fan of them

  • games are not my thing either - hopefully we won't be playing any at my shower in a couple weeks -  my sister & friend throwing the shower know I'm not into them so I think I'll get off the hook!
  • My shower is not for another couple of weeks, but my mom and sister (who are throwing it) know I am not a fan.
  • Maybe I'm a stick in the mud, but I think we're all adults and don't need (insert pejorative adjective here) games to keep us entertained at a bridal or baby shower. Our baby shower was co-ed, at a restaurant, game-free, and it was awesome.

However, I know some people love the games, and have a great time planning and playing them. So, if they have the games at your shower that you'd rather do without (and the hosts wouldn't take your hints that you'd prefer skipping them), I'm sure it will end up being fun! You'll get caught up in it, and end up laughing at the whole thing.

    Enjoy your shower!

  • Not a fan and luckily my friend who usually is in charge of the games for showers is aware of how many people don't like games.  Games are still done- but it's usually ONE game and it's on a more mature level than a LOT of baby shower games tend to be.

  • I'm not a fan, and neither are my friends, but they did do one game on Saturday, that was actually fun, . . . maybe that's because I won.  They had a list of about 15 to 20 celebrity baby names, and you had to put down the mom and dad's names.  You got a point for each parent you got correct.  It worked with our group since it was all 20 something girls.

  • I'm not a fan either.  The only game at my shower was a baby pool where people filled out their guesses for birthday, sex, weight, etc.  That has continued to be fun as the due date approaches.  Other games are lame IMO.
