My friend (well, actually DH's cousin) has apparently started potty training her almost-1-year-old. And she's having lots of success (and is bragging about how "smart" and "advanced" her daughter is all over facebook).
Have you started thinking about potty training? I'm thinking my DD might not be "smart" enough to figure it out yet, though
Re: Have you started thinking about potty training?
Not even thinking about it. I've witnessed my friends with older kids have very frustrating experiences trying to potty-train before the kid was ready.
My step-grandmother, who was a very IGNORANT person, swore up and down that her kids were potty trained by 9 months of age. Some kids might be ready around 1, but I think it's VERY few. DD goes #2 around the same time every morning, so sometimes I think..hmm..I should stick her on the potty, and see if eventually she goes into the bathroom when she's going to go #2. Who knows?

Am I related to your DH?
My cousin did the exact same thing on fb...was braggin about how her 10 mth old used the potty 2 times.
I haven't even thought about putting L on one. She is so squirmy that she doesn't even want people to hold her more than 10 secords & can't sit still for longer either. I can imagine that wouldn't work well with trying to have her sit on the potty - ha!
I know the Baby Whisperer author talks about early potty training and she makes some good suggestions. DS started at 2.5 and it was a few months before he got it down (relatively). He wasn't "ready" per se - it was just time and yes, potty training is often about parent training. I think I could have done it maybe a little bit earlier.
If you want to start somewhere, have your kid simply like the potty, like the flushing sound, etc. Also, have you and your DH announce you have to go every time you have to go and bring her in with you. Also, start talking about dry vs. wet, 'when you get bigger, you will have a diaper that is dry and then you get to wear undies!' etc. GL
