I have my consult for IVF w/ICSI #1 tomorrow. They are supposed to go through everything with me. I like to be prepared with questions so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for things I should ask?!

Hmm. I would think I would want to know what protocol the RE would be recommending and why; costs associated with each part; success rates with each; how many embryos they would want to transfer, and how they would decide 1 vs 2; Freezing extra embryos and the cost involved with that;
Hope that helps at least to start to think about questions! Good luck!!!!
Hi! Just try and get a good idea of your protocol. Of course, ask what meds you'll be on, timeline, etc. Ask about their success rates with ICSI. Ask if she'll do your ER, see if you'll be put under for it (Dr. W didnt sedate for ERs). I'll let you know if I think of anything else. xoxo

IVF#1: BFFN; IVF#2: BFN; FET with new RE: BFN
IVF#3: ER 1/15; ET 1/20; Beta#1 1/29: 339!
Twins girls born via c/s at 37w/3d!!

The suggestions from all of the other ladies were terrific. The only other thing I would add is to ask about whether there is a shared risk program available. Also, is this the only consult you are doing? You may want to get a 2nd opinion because another perspective wouldn't hurt to hear how another doctor would approach IVF with you. Good luck!

Good luck! All of these questions are great, in fact i prob should ask some myself!
I'd just make sure u are comfortable w both the RE and the coordinator. At times i feel like i stalk the coordinator, and Im happy that I feel ok to do so.
Also, some of the questions i've asked are somewhat embarassing...but they needed asking.

Re: IVF'ers please come in!
I just wanted to wish you good luck. We are gearing up for our IVF w/ ICSI # 1 also!

Hey hon
Here are some things I would ask about...
1 - What protocol would you be on and why? What medications would the cycle entail?
2 - Cost?
3 - What are your RE's criteria for triggering?
4 - What will your monitoring schedule look like?
5 - Do they require/suggest bed rest after ER and/or ET? How long?
6 - Do they usually do 3dt or 5dt? What are the requirements for a 5dt?
7 - What restrictions will you have while stimming and during the 2ww?
That's all I can think of for now.
Good luck!!!!

Here's some of our list of questions from our RE consult:
What is your 2009/2010 to date live birth success rate with IVF/ICSI?
How often have you done this procedure?
Good luck! All of these questions are great, in fact i prob should ask some myself!
