Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Help me out ladies

I'm planning my sister's baby shower and I want it to be awesome.

What was your favorite game at your baby shower?  Or something the host did that made it really special?

Re: Help me out ladies

  • Well, I had no games but that was my preference.

I enjoyed that is was a night party and coed.

I loved that they started a baby book for me with pictures from the shower (added after of course) and everyone wrote advice on it.

  • i love the guessing the size of the baby belly with TP. it was funny to see how huge some of my friends thought i was!

and i think this one is fun too:

Guess the Chocolate - (Materials- 5-10 diapers with 5-10 different types of chocolates). This game is one of the funniest and most popular baby shower games. Have the baby shower host or appointed person moderately melt 5-10 different candy bars separately, placing each one in a diaper to be viewed by everyone. Mark each diaper as A, B, C, D, etc. Have everyone guess which candy is in each of the diapers. Make sure to use some candies that have nuts, toffee, caramel, etc. You are sure to get great laughs!

  • We didn't have games either (my choice), but we passed around notecards and everyone wrote advice for parenting on it...I really liked that idea.

  • The host had newborn diapers there and asked everyone to write something on the diaper for us.  It was fun as when we'd go to change DS, there would be a fun message on his bum.  I took him to the pedi and realized the only diaper I had to change him was one with a note on it.  She cracked up.  It was fun to see what people wrote...especially during those middle of the night changes :)
  • Serve some of her most craved foods...no matter how crazy.

Personalize things with the baby's initials...if they have a name picked out.

We did "Guess the belly size" with string...one little girl got it 100% right!

  • the only game i really like is the dice game with tons of silly little white elephant gifts.

at my shower they did two really sweet activities for me- they had a bunch of plain onesies and markers and everyone decorated them with personalized pictures/messages. they also had a pretty little scrapbook and everyone designed a page with their own themes (first bath, i <3 my cousins, sleepytime, first halloween, etc)

  • These aren't games I had, but I'm planing one too.  We're having a co-ed shower for my friend, so these are a little more active games.  Here's the ones I like:

Bottle races - pick three people by a hot potato like game to race in drinking baby bottles, this is especially funny if you super glue one of the nipples shut so that person doesn't get anywhere.

Pin the paci on the baby - just like tail on the donkey

Stroller obstacle course race - using done in a backyard like setting.

Have each guess bring a baby photo of theirs, put them all together and have the whole group try to guess who is who.  The winner gets a prize.

Wet diaper game - guess how much water a diaper will hold.

Guess when the baby will be born, weight, time, etc - obviously one where the prize will be awarded later

And of course, the good ole guess the melted candy bar in the "poopy" diaper game.

    Lucas Arlo - 2/26/10, Cordelia Jane - 1/20/12
    #3 is due 8/27/14

  • Mine was an afternoon shower, so they put out finger foods. But the fun part was all the foods were kid foods, like PBJ sandwiches cut into little triangles, ants on a log, apple slices, string cheese, fruit snacks, etc. I thought that was cute (and yummy).

We did the guess the chocolate too and everyone really enjoyed it. Got lots of laughs and some great pictures. They also did the wrapping the TP around my belly.

  • We didn't have any games but my favorite thing about the shower were the "Letters to Baby." The letters had questions like "I hope C gets this from mommy" and "My birthday wish for C is..." I loved reading what people wrote.

  • I went to a shower where they played "The Price is Right" Everyone was showed different baby items such as diaper cream, wipes, etc. There was about 10 items I think. The guests had to figure out how much everything cost and at the end total up the cost. The person closest to the total price won. The mother to be then got to keep all of the baby items.

  • At my friends baby shower we played a funny game that the guest of honor had no clue about...basically what we did is that when she was opening gifts and saying things about them, we wrote down the words and then at the end we read them aloud and said "The night _____ was conceived, this is what was said." It is a fun, simple game that doesn't require much work or a prize, but makes everyone laugh.  :)

  • I just co-hostessed a shower so the games are fresh in my mind!

We did a match the celebrity to their freaky deaky baby name (like Nick Cage/ Kal-El) game.  We did a match the adult animal to the baby game (some were easy like cat/kitten, but some were tougher, like turkey/poult), and baby gift bingo for when she opened gifts.  We intentionally avoided the "measure the belly with string" game and I would have throat-punched anyone who tried to do this to me at my shower.

Something nice they did for me at my shower- they all signed a picture frame mat with messages to the baby.  It's now hanging in his room.
